Troubleshooting
Versions after this such as 1.04, 1.05 and 1.06 will work fine since the launcher bypasses those patches.
You'll also need Java installed and up to date.
If you have Winrar installed make sure it is not set to run .jar files or running the launcher will just open the jar file instead of running it.
Play Issue
If clicking Play doesn't work for you then you've got 2 options.
First is to disable admin mode for the file lotrbfme.exe.
To do this go into properties for lotrbfme.exe then disable Run as Administrator.
Option 2 is to use the Set up button which should set up the mod files, then just run the normal game launcher while keeping the ROS launcher open.
Launching Vanilla Issue
If the normal game is launching when pressing Play then your issue is file permissions.
Go to your game folder and right click then go in to Properties>Security and set the permissions so that your user account and the admin account have full control.
Read this first before posting in comments or discord since my time is limited I'd rather not have to answer the same questions 3 times a day.

I have problem with vanilla starting and I dont understand how exactly i am supposed to give permisions. I have the feeling I did, but its still starting vanilla.
This mod is not working for me.I have version 1.06,I downloaded and installed java(the new version)I installed ros part 1 and part 2 and roshotfix2.I started Launcher and I pressed play and say Make sure your java up to date.You have full control over the game folder.lotrbfme.exe has compatability mode and admin mode disabled.Please help me fast dude!!!

Hey guys Im having trouble with this mod part two will not install and is stuck at 71% any Ideas??
Does it work with T3A online bfme edition because im trying to launch return of shadow and it keeps saying play.ros.jar clas not registered. please what do i do need help!! :'(

I actually would like to know this as well. I can only download BFME-T3A versions of the game, as I am missing the original discs. So I would love to know if it is possible for it to work together. Currently, I have tried everything suggested on this page and the launcher for BFME-T3A Online over-rules/overwrites the launcher for ROS. I could do the option that makes the vanilla game launcher automatically launch ROS, but I would like to be able to play the vanilla version with my brothers as opposed to going through and installing the mod for the both of them.

hey, does anyone know how to fix this issue, during skirmish my starting heroes dont move and I cant select them
I think they don't have to move? Like, they are there to protect your citadel, like the hero npcs in Helm's Deep Good Campaign, maybe?

Acorn. I too am having problems. I've installed the latest Return of Shadow Initiative parts 1 and 2, but not the Riddermark Edition. I have set the game to all permission, but it keeps launching the original vanilla game. I can't think of any other reason why, so can you please help? Much appreciated if you could.
After installing both parts, and Riddermark edition, the game doesn't properly load textures. I get a lot of pink spaces, and missing structures and units. I did every step of the installation correctly and the version of the vanilla game was up to date. Any suggestions?

Hey, I find myself stuck when I try to play the Helm's Deep battle in the Evil campaign. A debug window appears and the game crashes to desktop. Here are the screenshots with the code. The game has been running perfectly until this moment. I can't finish the campaign but I'm playing skirmishes because I love your factions!! But I would like to know how to fix this problem. Thanks a lot for your amazing work!

I've got it for win10 . it installed but when I lunch it , it's the normal game without any addition. and yes I have installed all patches 1.03 to 1.05 and 06

i am getting purple texture i am using the BFME Luncher where you can install the full game from and i set the patch to 1.03 dont know what it is also getting errors at time on start up
