The gear in the centre fits with the drone faction's artistic design. :P

the gear in the center is the drones logo, maybe it just a decoration, but if you look at the upgraded versions the logo is actually also the part of the turret.
And I have decided to make all drones buildings always have drones logo to make drones buildings unique than humans buildings.
