Remastering Rebellion
The first version of this mod covers the graphics for all characters. I am relying on Wookiepedia references (both Legends and Canon). All, original mistakes in the game are also corrected.
I've used AI engines, and Photoshop's new capabilities, including neural filters and others to create this artwork.
Many of them are generated/painted from scratch using reference images. All lore-related mistakes will also be fixed (e.g. Bob Hudsol, who was mistaken for Willard in the original game will be replaced with a generated image of the original actor playing Willard in the movie).
As a plus, all characters will have unique, lore-based Encyclopedia backgrounds, mostly their home planets.

Future plans
- Minor stats correction of characters based on SW lore (e.g. Garaint can be assigned as a general, using his experience as a crime lord, leading his own empire) - ideas are more than welcome for this. (There will be a version of the mod that does not change stats at all)
- Further artwork (events) and some extra UI replacements
- Remastering the GUI using my old concepts that you saw in the RR mod
- Integrate new planet sprites
- Create a package that includes all updates above and upload that to a landing page and to SWR (RebEd cards and non-RebEd "simply overwrite" version)

Mod released!
The first version of Rebellion Remastered Mod updates the graphics of all characters. Their encyclopedia entries have been updated with a background image specific to them (the image that best describes role or their home planet). Some characters where incorrectly depicted in the original game, adjustment were made to bring them closer to the image Star Wars defined for them in the Canon and in the Legends lore.
Concept
The Remastered mod was not intended to replace the old characters with new ones. Many of us have grown to love and get used to the original characters, who have been a bit lost in time with the new Star Wars series. A significant number of them have not appeared in the "canon" Star Wars content to date, they are still only known from "Legends" (or as we used to call it: Expanded Universe).
Major changes
- Adar Tallon was reimagined based on Star Wars Legends comic book illustrations
- Bren Derlin was updated based on his appearance in The Empire Strikes Back
- Borsk Fey'lya was reimagined based on Star Wars Legends comic book illustrations
- Garm Bel Iblis was reimagined based on Star Wars Legends comic book illustrations
- Mazer Rackus was updated to look more like the new Twi'lek physique that series and comics introduced in the early 2000's. Ma'w'shiye was a humanoid from Kintan. But a southern Nikto with no horns. In Rebellion, he was depicted as a northern Nikto
- Judder Page was recreated using screengrabs from Return of The Jedi where Page is visible in the background
- Vanden Willard was updated based on the actor who played the character in New Hope. In Rebellion, he was confused for Bob Hudsol
- Brandei was updated based on his appearance in The Empire Strikes Back
- Bevel Lemelisk was reimagined based on Star Wars Legends comic book illustrations
- Niles Ferrier was reimagined based on Star Wars Legends comic book illustrations
The graphics in the original Star Wars Rebellion were photo revisions and paintings, which made the visual world of the entire game feel consistent. In the new mod, the focus was more on the photographic quality.
Install
- Download the mod here on ModDB: Rebellion Remastered V1
- Unzip the file to a folder
- Copy everything in that folder and replace the original files in your game folder
Alternatively, you can also get this among with update by applying the 25th Anniversary Patch that a team of us were working on. This also includes new planet sprites, models and others. You have to download and isntall the editor called StarWarsRebellionEditor and apply the patch from its menu.

You may also like
Go get this mod people. On the GOG version and old CD version I had constant crashes since Win XP on this gem of a game. With that mod you can play on and on for hours without a single crash. This mod fixed the game and turned it into something pretty as well with it's sharper textures and models. A pity that new vessels and so on can't get edited in due to hard coded Engine stuff otherwise I'd prefer this anytime over Empire at War.

I used to play rebellion with an old roommate over Lan and it was awesome! I'd love to see some slightly more updated textures and maybe tweeked space combat for the game.
