Far Cry 2 - RealMode_01
A work in progress, but time for a release!
I have tried to make the game more realistic and fun. The main focus has been on weapon tweaks and the general variation of the enemy in game.
More Damage.
More Pain.

Far Cry 2 - RealMode
Weapon damage has been increased, but not excessively so no 1 shot pistol kills. The AI will hurt you just as much as you hurt them, in many cases more so. The AI will now also use a wide and random array of weapons and no longer based on the players level. This sometimes includes silenced weapons, grenade launchers and mortars, just to keep you alert. Some individual weapons have been tweaked, most notably pistols no longer double as hyper accurate sniper rifles, both their range and accuracy has been reduced. I have left weapon costs the same, you can now often find the weapon you are looking for by clearing a guard post out, giving you a choice, rusty good gun prone to jamming or clean lame gun which isn't as prone to jamming. At this point I am not going to change the reliability of weapons, if you have ever used a gun in poor condition with bad ammunition you will find the game is pretty generous with its reliability levels.
Recommended to be played on 'Infamous' difficulty, 'cause you are a man.
Install:
Same as others, backup existing patch.fat and patch.dat in the Data_Win32 folder within the FarCry2 folder. Copy new patch files and overwrite existing.the custom machete reg key will automatically install when you double click on the file. If you want to delete this open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ubisoft\Far Cry 2 and delete. You can view the contents of the reg file by opening it in notepad.
Changes list:
- Weapon damages increased (but no instant pistol kills and snipers can still just wound)
- Balanced the damage taken to be more in-line with what the AI receives
- Pistol range/ accuracy reduced
- Various minor weapon tweaks
- Flare gun now accessible from hand to hand slot (must buy and equip first)
- More ammo for certain weapons (aka dart rifle)
- Even more ammo when ammo upgrades purchased
- Weapons do not auto reload
- Rockets are now rocket speed (well almost)
- In theory machetes are 1 hit kill now
- Health regenerates slower
- All weapons unlocked from start (still have to pay for them though)
- Some weapon categories changed:
- ---IED -> special
- ---AS50 -> special
- ---MGL140 -> special
- ---Flare gun -> hand-to-hand double up
- AI can now carry the full range of weapons available in the game right from the start. this includes mortars and silent weapons
- I have changed a few weapons clip ammo amount, based on a brief visit to wikipedia
- Probably other things...
I have also added an optional registry key that gives additional machete models (accessible from the main menu options). This is if you do not want to sign up with ubisoft to recieve this bonus.I have made and 'tuned' this mode while playing on hardcore and infamous difficulties
As mentioned before, this is still a work in progress, I am still trying to break further into the games inner workings to improve the overall game. I am interested in your requests
I am still looking into:
- Tweaking/adding weapon categories
- Vehicle speeds
- Still can't find where to edit DLC additional content
- Bullet drop
The "new machete types" are just the primative and homemade models you're supposed to obtain by linking your FC2 multiplayer account with an Ubisoft account.
Yes thats right. As I said, its for if you don't feel like registering the game with ubisoft for what ever reason.
