Sure. Just delete csprogs.dat from the quake_hack dir.
It then returns to the old quake HUD.
New items will only be on the new HUD, however.
It is possible a new HUD will be designed at some point.
I have a new spec somewhere, just comes down to finding the time.

You can also sizedown (often bound to "-") until you see the standard HUD
