when i run quake2xp.exe crash
What you have a crash does not tell me at all. What a stupid manner of writing "I got a crash" and that's it, no details. Am I a telepath? Or maybe a magician with a crystal ball? From where I can know why we had a failure?

well i install quake 2 and then i install quake 2 xp the i install the update and i run quake 2xp.exe then spend a long time and it closes alone

these are the worst opengl drivers. they write about support for opengl 4.5 but do not have support for bindless textures. I am silent about the speed of their built-in. AMD is better, but they have their own problems. Do you want a problem-free job? gf660gt is an approximate minimum for nvidia cards. People say it works on the 5xx series, but I haven't seen it.
Will GeForce 110MX work? I really want to play this but I have no idea how to install mods or such.

I divided the log in 3 parts, when i start quake2xp, the menu looks strange, and when I create a new game it crashes

hi there,
ive installed quake2xp covid edition. It boots up just fine onto the main menu, but when i try to start a new game it just sits on the load screen and doesn't load the outer base level. then i have to shut it down because it stops responding.
ive installed the recent update too
im using rx580 gpu and ryzen 2600

if it runs at 1920 native resolution i get the crash after about 2 minutes. IF i lower the resolution to the lowest (1027x768) it does not crash.

I tried but it did not help.
I deleted: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Quake 2\baseq2/xpconfig.cfg
I also tried to open the config file to see if there was a max hunk_alloc setting but could not find it.

net_compatibility 1 doesn't work for me on this update, rolling back to 1.26.9 executable (without update1) makes it works again.

Does this have a virus? I had many PC issues after installing and wondered if it was because of this mod. It kept saying there was a memory issue or something related to it... virtual memory, etc, even after wiping the drive and re-installing windows.

The main issue I had was page fault in non-paged area then it would have to reboot, and then the same screen would eventually appear again. I ran memtest and there were no errors. I have 16 gigs of RAM and I tried taking out the memory and switching them to different slots, and increased the pagefile size, scanned for viruses and used Malwarebytes (0 found with both) but it kept happening. What was really weird is I even wiped out Windows and reinstalled, reinstalled Steam and Quake2xp etc. but eventually it happened again.

try updating your video card drivers. AMD has not completely fixed the errors that lead to such freezes. RX and R9 series work with new drivers
