Quake 1.5 is a darkplaces addon mod for the original Quake. Utilizing Seven's SMC 5.30 as a base, it has been expanded to include new features such as weapons, gore, and plenty of level additions.
This is a masterpiece.

It's great. Although it adds more and more enemies to the game, it still manages to keep combat satisfying rather than overwhelming and frustrating, and I love the new weapon models, especially the Nail Gun!
I like the inclusion of monsters from Arcane Dimensions and new bosses for Episodes 2 and 3, which is what the vanilla game was lacking, so props for that! Even if these bosses are just bigger tougher versions of regular enemies.
I personally also don't mind kicking mechanic and proximity grenades, but I feel like the flashlight is kind of redundant, and random slow-mo effect when killing some enemies can get obnoxious really fast.
The only real complaint though is that framerate can sometimes drop drastically, but otherwise it's a great mod.
One of the greatest mod I've ever played. it's like a official remake to me.

if you trouble with weird shadow on blood, try this.
1. Disable STAINMAPS in Effects Menu.
2. Restart Render from Lighting Menu.(or simply restart the game)
3. Done.
Single player beta is already awesome. Multiple patches coming through. This is like Brutal Doom for Quake. Just get it.
it breathes new life into the game and makes certain parts of it harder for that extra challange.

Me have performance issues with this mod. It get very laggy during fights. In regular Quake is no problem. Needs to fix it.
Playing this mod drops fps to only 20%.
Multiplayer is laggy and disconnects frequently.
Needs more polish and patches.
