This mod is in the early stages of development and could use your talent if you feel you have something to contribute! It's about 15% done at this point.

The gameplay is single player/co-op/multiplayer freeforall and/or race where the goal is to complete the map following thru on whatever the mission computer says - usually complete the course as quickly as possible. Some single player/co-op missions may never require firing a weapon. The goal may simply be to gather all points possible or find the finish as quickly as possible - all stats displayed on the end score screen.

Rocket thruster backwash on the boards are planned to cause damage in addition to an array of on-board weapons that fire forward, backwared, or are dropped.

In the screenshot on the second promo image, the mission is simply to trigger the laser beams in a certain sequence, which requires getting serious air off the ramps and guiding your Qboard into the path of the beam.

The map shown in both promo images is at standard Q2 gravity (800), so there's a bit of falling damage if you don't find a ledge to land on, though with padding, you take less damage. There's adrenaline about the map to help when health gets low. The promo images are a concept map, much work (and many more maps) still needs to be done.

Maps for this mod can be made with standard Q2 map editors - feel free to offer intersting ramp layout ideas, sketches, or maps you have made if you'd like to help. You may also join Team Qboard and be a part of bringing a fun mod to everyone.

Surf Stroggos in Style!

News

That's right, the Strogg have been defeated in every Quake 2 mission pack you've played. Now its many complexes and fortresses are under a new invasion from hoverboarders eager to find some new terrain.

Not being one to miss out on this opportunity, I've set up a custom board shop in orbit above Stroggos. From there I build, design, and receive new custom graphics and styles from all over the known inhabited systems.

If you know of a style that's not in our selection, we (you and I) can custom make it or have it ordered from some of the most talented people in the business. Custom painted boards start with stock 2.0 decks just released this season.

Feel free to contact me or visit my shop if you have a deck you'd like upgraded, or a custom design you'd like to display.

Programers still wanted, looking into finding a site for code and project management.
I've made several code fixes and updates with code provided to me by many talented people - it's time to enter phase 2 of this project!

You've since done better on that course, I'm sure. But you know you've cheated by circumventing the checkpoints - there's no checkpoint code in the mod yet!

Alpha testing of engine, maps, and game resources (sounds, textures, menus, etc) is open to team members. Very early stages, but still could use some more feedback, team!

I've always wanted to snowboard as well... I took a holiday out to Queenstown, NZ one North American Summer (The year the Ozone hole opened up - I ended up with quite a burn.) and thought I'd start there. I ended up back on skis instead. There's just something about fixing one's feet to a single board in "Suicide" bindings that is mildly adversive. More downhill injuries are snowboarders - but that's probably just all the people like me who'd try it for the first time with no idea what they're doing...

I'll stick with this dangerous mod instead. :)

It's kinda funny - I tested the first SLIDE map in Qboard mod today and found I could drive it better than I could in the SLIDE mod. Of course, I still couldn't beat the downhill times at jitspoe's joint either way. At least with the rocket on the back of the Qboard, I can beat anyone's UPHILL time in SLIDE maps. :)

Since the ideas are inadvertently very similar, I'd like to bring Nick "SiNGE" Bousman's (Maker of the original Quake SLIDE mod) idea into Quake2. I've permission to use the ideas, concepts, and game resources. Already his mod provides a single and multiplayer co-op and combat gameplay. But I'll be adding my ideas as well - you can freestyle through the maps, or try to beat the clock and/or gather the most points with/without monsters, and multi-player friends and opponents. Yes, the idea is similar enought that with some help, a remake and update can be done to his original idea - adding downhill challenge maps to the mod idea I had.

Why that's pretty awesome! Honestly, it's very similar but I never knew that mod existed. I hope to have some of the things he's doing in there, but there will also be combat via the weapons mounted firing forward, and damage done to opponent/monsters from thruster fire out the back - this is assuming someone can code this. I have some sprite artwork, I just don't have the engine coded to do it. Honestly, the success of my mod idea is in the map design for non-violent missions. Some maps may require coop for solutions. I picture it being possible to play thru the baseq2 mission single player or co-op with the Qboard and its weapons. We'll see what sort of talent and creativity we all have as this develops. Thank you again for pointing out the Quake (original) mod - I simply must try it now.
