Q3F is a class-based game, based on the original TF for Quake, allowing you to play the role of one of ten character classes. Classes include the Recon, Sniper, Soldier, Grenadier, Paramedic, Flame-Trooper, Mini-Gunner, Agent, Engineer and Civilian. Each class has one or more unique abilities. For example the Paramedic can heal his team-mates while the Agent can disguise himself as a member of the enemy team.
All Q3F's classes have their own weapons and attributes too. The Recon is ultra-fast, lightly armored and carries a Nailgun and stun grenades; while the Flametrooper is slower but more heavily armored and carries a Flamethrower and napalm grenades. Some classes are better suited to certain roles. The Engineer is great on defense because he's able to build Supply-Stations and Sentry-Guns. For detailed information on each class, check out the class selection menu by hitting the ESCAPE key while in-game.
Q3F includes a wide selection of maps (environments) with varied themes and settings. Some are set in urban fortresses, others in terrain-based landscapes. Each map may contain multiple game-types or objectives. Your goal may be to carry out an assault on the enemy base, take control of an area or perhaps assassinate another player.
Q3F is a Total Conversion (TC) for the game Quake 3 Arena, developed by id Software and published by Activision. Q3F's goal has been to modify the multiplayer aspects of Quake 3 to create a much more in-depth and team oriented experience while playing on the Internet, on gaming networks or on a LAN.
Hopefully achieving this through the implemention of different player classes with unique weapons, strengths and abilities. The team-play aspect comes from Q3F's support for several game-objectives which include capture the flag, command point, capture and hold, assault and assasination.
