Excessive dawn (edawn) is a free Quake 3 Arena mod, with numerous improvements, both client and server side. Biggest feature is the fact you can tweak almost every single aspect of the game, from weapon behaviour to making your own mini gametypes. All powered by a tweaked netcode. Mod works with any Quake 3 version that uses QVM (quake virtual machine): vanilla Q3 Arena, open arena, ioquake3, whatever executable you might make yourselves..

having huge issues getting excessive to work. when i try to load it, either via menu or the target executable, it just goes straight to the cdkey page, then to the main menu, or just to the main menu.
the game doesn't load at all, it just puts me back at the main menu every time.
i have tried rebuilding this 3 times, each with clean fresh files, using ioquake3 4k widescreen client (no other clients have widescreen support for true 16:9)
and it just doesn't work, at all. i have tired with both excessive + and excessive dawn.
really weird because back in 06 i used to play excessive + all the time, but now with better everything i cannot get it to run at all.
furthermore, does excessive allow me to run quake live user submitted huds?
the only reason i want excessive is so that i can have the hud of my choice, move the menu and customize it's size, adjust machinegun fire rate to make it fire faster so that i can use the machine gun as a nailgun, using nailgun sounds and reskin the ammo boxes. this is all part of a quake champions based mod i'm working on.
i want the champions hud for QL by muzikizum Qlhud.net, menu adjustable to wherever, different font ability, and the ability for the player to select either cpma or vanilla movement physics in the match menu, which may definitely require a recompile.
I get black textures whenever i shoot someone. am I doing something wrong?
