Before you watch this mod, ask yourself a few questions:
How did Aperture Science find you?
How come you don't remember the reason you were here or any training?
Why did GLaDOS thank you in the credits for participating in the experiment even though you killed her?
Was the whole GLaDOS fight part of the experiment?

WHAT IF VALVE NEVER TOLD YOU THE WHOLE STORY...

Portal Taste The Cake will take Aperture Science to a whole different level, maybe like floor 11, the reason Aperture Science was created. Taste The Cake isn't about fancy visuals, loud music, and everything else a game would carry, but is dedicated to the science and technology behind Aperture Laboratories. Prepare to take a dive into the real life of Chell, discover the true story behind GLaDOS, learn that Cave Johnson's story was a cover up, and discover how 2 games, and 2 mods are tied together with a single mod. Starting with Portal: Prelude, which is followed by Portal, and then finally Portal Flash Version (The Map Pack), Portal Taste The Cake fills the gap from those three to Portal 2, telling how the world went from flying back into Aperture Science to complete destruction.

Portal Taste The Cake can be followed on Steam too, at Steamcommunity.com where as of now BioHazard is the right hand man, playtesting and designing, and the Joker main mapper, storyline developer, and mod holder are the only members of the team.

Portal Taste The Cake and all its property is owned by Master Inc. and the Game Master.

With permission from Portal: Prelude, Portal Flash Version, Ray Koefoed (for the song and title Taste The Cake), and Portal 2 Collaboration Group.

Portal Taste The Cake: Part 1

Part 1 of our mod is designed to make the player feel as though they have actually gotten away with cheating Aperture Science, and not to reveal too much, I'll just say that you do. Viewers of our mod may have noticed that we used some Portal: Prelude and Portal Flash Version material, and while this is true, we would like to tell you that 1) We have permission, since its even said in the video, and 2) This is to give the players an idea of where they really are within the facility, since in later parts such as 4 or 5 the basic layout of the laboratories will be needed. Combining Portal, Portal: Prelude, and Portal Flash Version maps within ours will make the lab more believable and create a larger range of just how huge the facility really is. Some places are made up too, as you will see in the first map. This is in order to make the Portal storyline fall into Half-Life's, since some aspects of Black Mesa and the Combine may be introduced, such as their technology (If people can steal from Aperture Science and get away with it, why not vice versa?).

On a harsher note, as the trailer has mentioned in it's description, this mod does involve flashing lights that repeat rather fast as time goes on, so if you are prone to seizures, warn me so that I can either tell you when you'll need to look away or I will make a special version with a darker flashing effect. You can PM me the message.

Anyway, within the first second of starting the mod, there will always be text upon the screen, so you will indeed need to be able to read, at least above a 5th grade education level. You will learn why it is text rather than audio rather quickly as well, and the technology that allows it will become very helpful in the later parts of Taste The Cake. Please note that we use a color scheme for the text that appears to show which character is saying what, or what system is informing you of information. The first text that appears while the screen is black (the text is blue) is not a character, but is an intro of sorts to tell you the basic story that you know, or are assumed to know. Other text such as white, orange, and red do appear in game, with the orange and red showing who they are, white, not so much, at least not yet. If you are indeed color blind, I can make a special version that has each color have a name before it, to show who it is.

Now, we at Masters Inc. would like to say thank you for helping us help you help us all.
And if you fulfill any of situations listed above, please PM me so that I can get a count of how many people will need these issues fixed for them.

Guys If You Get An Error When You Open It Go To The GameInfo.txt file If You See
This:
"GameInfo"
{
game "Portal Taste The Cake Part 1"
title "Portal Taste The Cake"
type singleplayer_only
"developer" "Masters Inc."
"icon" "icon"
nodifficulty 1
hasportals 1
FileSystem
{
SteamAppId 400 // This will mount all the GCFs we need (240=CS:S, 220=HL2).
ToolsAppId 211 // Tools will load this (ie: source SDK caches) to get things like materials\debug, materials\editor, etc.

//
// The code that loads this file automatically does a few things here:
//
// 1. For each "Game" search path, it adds a "GameBin" path, in <dir>\bin
// 2. For each "Game" search path, it adds another "Game" path in front of it with _<langage> at the end.
// For example: c:\hl2\cstrike on a french machine would get a c:\hl2\cstrike_french path added to it.
// 3. For the first "Game" search path, it adds a search path called "MOD".
// 4. For the first "Game" search path, it adds a search path called "DEFAULT_WRITE_PATH".
//

//
// Search paths are relative to the base directory, which is where hl2.exe is found.
//
// |gameinfo_path| points at the directory where gameinfo.txt is.
// We always want to mount that directory relative to gameinfo.txt, so
// people can mount stuff in c:\mymod, and the main game resources are in
// someplace like c:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\half-life 2.
//
SearchPaths
{
Game |gameinfo_path|.
Game portal
Game hl2
}
}
}

Than Delete All The Text Under FileSystem And Replace It With This:

FileSystem
{
SteamAppId 400

SearchPaths
{
game+mod |gameinfo_path|.
platform |gameinfo_path|.

game_lv portal/portal_lv.vpk
game+mod portal/portal_sound_vo_english.vpk
game+mod portal/portal_pak.vpk
game |all_source_engine_paths|hl2/hl2_textures.vpk
game |all_source_engine_paths|hl2/hl2_sound_vo_english.vpk
game |all_source_engine_paths|hl2/hl2_sound_misc.vpk
game |all_source_engine_paths|hl2/hl2_misc.vpk
platform |all_source_engine_paths|platform/platform_misc.vpk

mod+mod_write+default_write_path |gameinfo_path|.

game+game_write |gameinfo_path|.

gamebin portal/bin

game |all_source_engine_paths|portal

game |all_source_engine_paths|hl2
platform |all_source_engine_paths|platform
}
}
}

The Reason You Are Getting The Error With The Old GameInfo.txt Text Is Because Of The Steam "Steampipe" Update Where They Changed The Format Of Steam Games And The Error & White Screen Is What Happens When You Try To Open A Mod Made Before The Update. I Hope I Helped Anyone Trying To Open The Mod!
