Portal Stories is set in the “Aperture Science Experimental Computer Aided Testing Facility” (ASECATF); Aperture Science’s 24th testing facility, and their first to incorporate new experimental “Artificial Intelligence Control and Guidance System” technology. The pioneering form of this system, incorporated into the ASECATF facility, is known as “MARIS” or “Modular Assessment Recording Interface System”. A more advanced form of this technology is under development, and is expected to be ready for installation into Aperture Science’s Enrichment Centre, as soon as the construction of this new facility is complete.
The ASECATF has been fully operational for just over two weeks, over which time all systems have undergone extensive testing, the results of which have been extremely encouraging. The facility has thus been certified as ready to receive its first test subject.
Something unexpected happens…
Get ready for a new portal experience! Including: New Puzzles! New obstacles! and New characters! In this free, story driven campaign mod for VALVE’s Portal!

That’s right! After being away from Moddb for almost 7 months, Portal Stories is back! So much has been happening with Portal Stories while we’ve been away, but we will fill you in on that throughout this great new year of 2010. But in the meantime, there is one big update I want to share with you.
That’s right! After being away from Moddb for almost 7 months, Portal Stories is back! So much has been happening with Portal Stories while we’ve been away, but we will fill you in on that throughout this great new year of 2010. But in the meantime, there is one big update I want to share with you.
We have a new team leader; ME!
Here’s why…
Leading a mod team is huge work, and Pufje (our last team leader) was up to his neck in work; mapping, organising other team members, making all the creative decisions, etc. But when Pufje got his new job (congratulations Pufje!), he knew that if he didn’t stop leading the mod, he would get overwhelmed by all the work, and the mod would suffer as a result. Pufje chose me to be the new leader of the Portal Stories Team (Thankyou!) because, although I was only the Audio guy, I had given him a great number of creative ideas.
Now that Pufje (who is now our lead mapper) can concentrate on mapping, without having to worry about leading the team, we are getting a lot more of the mod done!
On a sadder note; Demon; who is one of our best mappers, will be unable to map for the mod anymore because he has had to join the army for 3 years. :(
By the way… I now have a copy of the entire Portal Stories plot that Pufje wrote. Just so you know; it is exceedingly marvellous!
Now… The time you have all been waiting for… Screenshot Time!
This is part of test chamber 01, where the player will quickly learn about putting cubes on buttons, etc.
We have recently finished a map called “Room XX” that introduces a new game mechanic. But we don’t want to show it yet, because a spectacular map deserves an equally spectacular way of showing it off. We have something special in mind….
So, you have probably noticed by now, but I’ll say it anyway; we updated our graphics here on our Moddb page! It looks cooler on the main page.

And yeah, the first paragraph and the last line have been duplicated, it happens when you center the images that are near them. I’ll try and make sure it does not happen in the future. Thankyou for pointing it out for me.

Yay, I finally got all of the big update up on Moddb. But it may take a while before the staff authorize the news post and fix the summary graphics.

Sorry guys, theres been a little delay with the big update, but once the update is out, everything will speed up.
Nope! The reason why there are not many updates is because the person who updates the ModDB page is not the same person who is managing the mod.
BUT! This is all about to change due to a very big decision made yesterday night! I do not want to give anything away until my big news post in the coming week. But lets just say, "Expect a lot of updates in the near future!"
