This mod has been in development since August 2008 and has quickly grown since then. The mod was originally designed as a map pack but has now grown into a full mod for portal.

Portal Stories is a mod-in-the-making for portal, The story is set before the events that happened in the official game. an unofficial prequel so to speak. You play as Chell rumored to be the daughter of the mastermind behind the Aperture science company. how she ended up as test subject is still unknown, wandering trough the test chambers hearing voices behind doors and observations rooms she figures out there is something wrong and a plot against her starts to reveal itself. but there is something even bigger threat lurking from around the corner.
You get guided by an A.I. named MARIS (Modular Assessment Recording Interface System)a predecessor of GLaDOS. she serves as a test recording unit and also has control over the enrichment center security system and all files ever to be recorded in the facility. she creates a bond with Chell and starts to rebel a bit against the scientists. This mod has been in development since August 2008

We are looking for someone who has a lot of experience with Source SDK Face poser. I've tried it myself and failed multiple times so I'm quite desperate on finding someone to animate the faces for us.

So if you are a person with a lot of Face Poser skillz and are willing to animate +/- 50 lines of speech please e-mail us at portalstories@gmail.com so we can recruit you to our team.

I'll post more informatin shortly but I'm out of time now.

Nope! The reason why there are not many updates is because the person who updates the ModDB page is not the same person who is managing the mod.

BUT! This is all about to change due to a very big decision made yesterday night! I do not want to give anything away until my big news post in the coming week. But lets just say, "Expect a lot of updates in the near future!"

haha, well yes, that is true for some of the new levels, i think its good where it is used, it lets you see things before you get to them.... the only problem that i see is; couldn't you just smash the glass, haha.

To tell you the truth, I am not completely sure, as our plans for release have been constantly changing since we started to mod. But I believe that last time we talked about it, we decided that we would have an open beta before the final release, it would be a not completely finished version of the entire game, it would be a not completely finished version of the first few levels, this it because the story is a very important part of the game… BUT, I just realized that there is a problem with that plan, because we are not working on the mod like this:

Design for level 1
Levels creation for level 1
Voice acting for level 1
All the rest for level 1
Design for level 2
Levels creation for level 2
Etc…

We are not working on it like this:
Design for THE ENTIRE GAME
Levels creation for THE ENTIRE GAME
Voice acting for THE ENTIRE GAME
Etc…

So, when you think about this for a while, you will realise that by the time we finish the first few levels, we would have completed the entire mod!

I don’t know if I have explained this clearly enough, but this is why we might not release a beta.

Either way, I will talk to Pufji about this when he gets back from china.
