Upon the start of the Rebirth project by the Mand'alor, the LT (light tank) and IF (Infantry fighting) corps were established as armored (armor-supported) combat units in the Mandalorian army. This was done so as to meet the standard requirements of a quick moving land based vehicle necessary for any military. The Mandalorian chief designers banged their heads against the wall in search of a viable solution. It came, a 'flame tank.' A vehicle, who's firepower is based on firing blazing solvent onto it's enemies, scorching them untill they wither into char. However, the LT-8 (light tank eight) turned out a very vulnerable unit. While it can literally lay down a lot of fire (this itself, makes it more a sitting duck, hits on it's exposed ammunition tanks may cause an early explosion, though these are lightly armored), armored targets can easily withstand this, including some infantry which are effectively resistant, and have effective counter weapons. The Mandalorians, when in the process of design, emphasized the need for speed in this sort of vehicle. As a result armor suffered signifigantly. The light shield system instituted on the tank did little to improve the situation. As a result the flame tank is a vehicle made purely for infantry support. Only when utilized in this fashion can it reach it's maximum level of effectiveness.
