This is my entry for the interlopers.net mapping competition "the forgotten journey". The goal of the contest was to create a map set in a new location while staying true to Half-life 2. playtime is around 20-30 min.

This map is ******* fantastic, great amount of action, smart enemy placements, great brush work, great scripting and a fully functional combine sniper rifle. Totally worth your time. 10/10.

Beautifully done map with pretty well crafted placement of enemies, items, and what not along the way.

Wow. This is seriously fantastic. It perfectly captures the feel of Half-Life 2 in a challenging, but never frustrating map. The puzzles are solid, the combat is flawless, and the mapping is excellent. For one map, this is an incredible play. I really hope a full mod follows this up from Marnamai.

Surpassing even Valve in terms of detail, I have never really seen such a detailed recreation of the final hours of City 17.

With just one level, I was stunned by how much you can accomplish in such a short amount of time, whether you are crawling through head-crab infested garbage dumps, dodging barnacles, manning a combine sniper (!!) to pick off CP's and even blowing up a tricky APC with hopper mines, Overflow was my favorite level in the Forgotten Journey compilation and is perhaps one of the best FPS experiences I've had since Underhell.

Great job, Marnamai! :)

A very well-designed map. I like how you can use the sniper rifle, which you can't do in HL2. Overall, excellent work.

Feels like it is a bit from a Half-Life 2 episode, kind of plays a bit weird, though.

Intense, intuitive combat that does a spectacular job of subtly equipping the player and encouraging use of the environment, especially paired with the gravity gun. Combat feels natural, challenging, and elegantly executed.

Breath of fresh air with novel concepts such as the APC mine fight and sniper sequence. Feels good to turn it around on the Combine.

Mapping is top notch with just the right balance of exploration (rewarded with supply crates) and forward progress. Navigating environments feels intuitive and satisfying with paths forward often unfolding in front of your eyes. Rarely felt "lost". Subtly guides the player at a fast pace without feeling like you're being rushed. Looks exquisite on top of everything else with fantastic long shots and OG City 17 vibes.

Oustanding mod that truly feels like it belongs in HL2.

Feels like it could have been a section in Episode One. Short and sweet, and the Combine sniper was fun to use.

This is one of the best mods/maps I've played. Excellent level design, artistic content of the map and a good balance. Very close in quality to the Downfall from the same author. I advise you to pass.
