I have just updated the current flash now. It appears more orange as the flash! Cheers for the feedback :)

What I would do after every three or four miliseconds have the brightness of the light change. Like in DoDs...

Looks good but the only problem is that it just lights up the gound and not around it

Hi thanks for the feedback. The flash just doesn't light the floor, when your near a wall or have a low ceiling, the flash always illuminates these areas. The video here did not demonstrate that.

The light seems to last after the shot has been fired and looks a little strange. Maybe end the light sooner after it starts?

Description

I successfully programmed in Dynamic Muzzle Flashes for the weapons. Now when you or an enemy shoots, the weapon will actually light up the surrounding area. This is a great addition for dark levels and intense action scenes. I thank the tutorials creator, found on Valve Developer Community.

A simple contrast on how it affects light in this video. Im not sure if this included in explosions, but however, I am currently doing lighting effects for explosions. Enjoy!

You may have also noticed that the SMG1 firing speed is now slower and that the viewmodel_fov has increased. This is so that you can actually see the gun more clearer.

Music from Half-Life 2 Episode One.
