The Story

In the early days of Nordland, it was ruled by a mighty Empire that worshipped the Norse gods. But after many years of constant war with a foreign empire, the land was ravaged. Torn assunder by foreign raiders and armies, it was weak and collapsing, people were suffering and calling for the heads of the kings, so the people of Nordland marched upon Godsrest, the seat of the Nord Empire, and spent many bloody weeks seiging the once mighty capital with the support of the Eastern Empire. This long siege was called "The Black Winter", the fall of Godsrest marked the end of a grand empire, and the beginning of over 100 years of strife and war. After the seige, an ambitious lord by the name of Thorvald claimed himself the rightful Emperor, but the other usurpers did not agree and nominated themselves as the new Emperor, which lead to more infighting, but after much heated debate the quarreling kings decided to split their lands into 6 countries:

The Kingdom of Nordland

They have receded to the lowlands of Nordmar, far to the north-west of the continent. They are strong warriors born into the traditions of the old empire. They are devoted to all of the Norse Gods. it's leader, King Lars Ulfrsson, is the rightful heir to the throne and will stop at nothing to obtain his birth right.

The Kingdom of Hulgunde

They occupy the thick forests in Hulgunde. They are mighty warriors and hunters, but also grand craftsmen. They are devoted to Tyr, the Norse god of justice. It is ruled by king Grimvar the Slayer, he is the greatest threat to King Lars' claim to the throne of Nordland due to his heritage to one of the great kings of old.

The Kingdom of Lirask

They occupy the frozen steppes to the south-west of Nordland in the Kjordunland Region. They are weak warriors, but great diplomats and horsemen, they thrive off of trade with their neighbours. They hold no allegiances to any deities. Their leader is King Erik Leifsson, a wise man, and a great diplomat, but he is considered weak by his rivals.

The Kingdom of Bruvar

They occupy the mountainous island of Bruvarir to the far north. They are savage and bitter warriors, they have a deep hatred for their neighbours, they still honour their treacherous agreement with their Eastern overlords, despite them abandoning the island after the Black Winter. They follow the god of war, a foreign deity brought from the eastern empires. It is ruled by Warlord Brom the Cruel, a hateful and vicious man, and the son of Thorvald

The Kingdom of Kjordunland

They occupy the grande frozen forests of the Kjordunland region to the north east of the continent. They have the greatest bowmen in all of Nordland, it is said that their ancestors were half-elves from the south lands. They follow the old ways and revere nature. Their king is Herald the Outcast, the half brother of Warlord Brom.

The Free People of the Iron Coast

They occupy the region known as the Iron Coast, to the far south. They are hardy freemen and sailors from the southern coasts, they are often mercenaries, raiders, pirates and adventures, but they will stop at nothing to defend their homeland from their ambitious neighbours. They hold no allegiances to the deities, but they have a preference for Thor, the god of Thunder, and Odin, the wanderer. They are ruled by Queen Hilgunde Sigurddottir, a fair and kind queen, and renowned Shield Maiden of Tyr.

The Kingdom of Graavor

They are a buffer state established in the center of Kjordunland by neutral tribal leaders. They are backed by the Kingdom of Lirask and thus receive aid and funds, and in return the Kingdom of Graavor must prevent regional conflicts from spilling into Liraskian territory. They lack any proper ranged infantry, instead they have honed their melee abilities making them strong warriors. Despite being an independent state, they prefer to carry a variation of the Lirask standard into battle in honour of their protectors. They are ruled by Haakon Hofrinr, a strong, charismatic leader and a close friend of Erik Leifsson.

The Free People of Frosthammer

Frosthammer was a keep constructed on an island in the eastern delta of the silver river to watch the East ocean, it is now a independent city state of merchants with a unique advantage: Crossbows. Despite being independent, they are under the protection of The Kingdom of Nordland, and in return they keep the Kingdom of Lirask at bay and serve as a suitable disruption for merchants travelling to the Kingdom of Hulgunde. Their forces are inspired heavily by Easternman armies, instead of berserkers, raiders and warriors, they have heavily armoured soldiers perfect for defending the stone walls and shores of Frosthammer, and their crossbowmen are lethal since their bolts can penetrate shields. They are ruled by King Lars Wolf-Slayer, an old warrior who's health is failing, but despite his frail demeanour, he still has the strength to carry his fiefdom.

The kings and queens of the kingdoms are becoming strong and ambitious, the era of unstable peace and petty wars is coming to an end, rumours of strange ships baring familiar banners from the past appearing near the island's coastal regions are common amongst both peasants and lords, another age of war is coming to Nordland, and it is up to you, brave adventurer,to face the ensuing chaos.

Help Wanted!

News

I've been working on this project alone for several weeks whilst I work with DarkRobin on his project and another personal project of my own, I find it hard to keep up with all three projects since they both require a lot of attention. So I am in need of people to take up some of the work-load.

I need people that can:

- Create & edit troops
- Create & edit items
- Create face codes
- Create 3D models
- Perform repetitious tasks

If you can do any of these things plus use the Module System, I would be happy to take you onto the team, I have no other requirements.

Temporary roles I need filled:

- 2D artist
- Scener

These roles are only temporary whilst my other team members are unavailable.

Take note: I am not looking for beta testers and writers.

Yes and no. For the time being I've stopped development to work on Calradia: Imperial Age. I'm also in the middle of better organizing the Nordland resources, there's a lot of useless junk that I want to get rid of that was never put to use.
