Ionizer rocket launch from the station, to deploy the satellite.
Looks like it's time to dig my old copy of UT :D
Can these stations be destroyed before launching?
No, they cannot.
Only the satellite is destroyable once in the air (otherwise it would be too easy to kill this and there would be no point for the player to use it effectively, since it takes some time to: launch, deploy and fire).
