From the Journal of Test Subject #232: 31.21 N, 28.71 W. 2043 AD. It's hard to believe that just fifty years ago people were worried about the water levels rising. I joined the Testing Course Program just a week ago and they brought me to one of these island mountains. Ever since the Combine came they had been sucking up the water and sending it back to wherever they came from. So the water level fell so far that the underwater mountains became islands, then hills, and then finally towering mountains, jutting out of the water like some kind of massive wrecked ship. Then after the Combine were beaten away, this new Aperture corporation went around claiming all these mountains for research. Word was, they were extremely benevolent up until the founder died, and then they built this big robot lady to replace her. Then the tests got worse. The scientists around the place don't seem to know, and that seems odd. I'll just say I feel sorry for the next subject.

Heh. Yeah, that sign is not located in this hallway. Actually at this point in time all the production lines are stopped because they have no metal to use. (Combine used most of it)
Are you saying that the Combine has something do do with this mod?
I though they were on separate universes.
This could cause strange cenarios like playing a Half Life 2 mod on portal with the portal gun, a appropriated history to get this fit together.
What do you mean? The Half-Life games and the Portal games are in the same universe. The events in Half-Life and Portal occurred roughly side-by-side in the storyline.
I hope Half-Life 3 has a portal gun then...

well you could use a normal turret with a defective turret-esque voice and have it animated to mess up
I would have to make a completely new entity. No question about it.
