While I was looking at my old computer, I happened to find Midage source-code in there. My knownledge about HL1 and C++ improved a lot since Midage so I decided to do a repack version. It should be available shortly on downloads.
In the repacked version you can find the source-code, which is now compilable under Visual Studio 2010. I've also improved "example1" map with fixes and lots of VIS optimizations. Compilers have come a long way since 2007 and so the map is now compiled under the latest available tools, and as such, you might notice something in the lighting which is the most improved area.
There is also a new HD (1920x1080) main menu image.
Now, don't take this as a revival of the mod, this is a little something for all Midage fans and we hope you like it.
The Future
We don't know the future but one thing I can say is Midage idea is not dead and we still intend to do it. We're currently trying to set up a game company and its very unfortunate that mods won't work very much to achieve that. Personally I still like GoldSrc engine, actually more than Source. Its easy to do anything and you can even get it to run some nice graphics with some OpenGL coding.
I can assure you if Valve allowed mods to be used in other way we would have probably started to make a living out of them, we still love GoldSrc engine very much and Midage would have been the first of them.
