Good idea, a bit minecraft but good idea...

When I first found this mod I thought Oh something that brings me back to medieval type mmos but was highly disappointed when the mining was so slow I fell asleep and the lack of anything to make at the forge really disappointed more then lack of any real story or combat which would have made this worth the time playing. I don't think anyone should play it until everything that's wrong with it is completely fixed

Experiments attempting to merge features of different genres of videogames such as FPS and Sandbox are quite unusual, and even few the successful ones. Games like Minecraft, 7 Days to Die, and Ark: Survival Evolved come to mind as examples. The GTA Saga can also be considered in this category, with less First Person and more shooting and sandbox. Mid Age is one of those attempts that fails miserably to achieve this merging, and not only because of its dull textures and modelling, lazy reskins and bugs, but also because attempting to convert Half-Life into an RPG mod faces serious limitations due to its design, even if there are player-populated servers and the skill system worked as intended. These shortcomings undermine this mod, even as a project with potential for further professional development.

Graphically, Mid Age lacks any noteworthy elements. Background is exactly the same as Half-Life, so if the intention was to resemble the medieval style of early versions of Runescape, it is real far from that. The models of trees, ores and tools are subpar and their design are basically walls of bad pasted textures or nearly plain colors, with a distinct lack of effort for the detail. So, the overall ambience falls well below the standard of a decent beta.

Runescape can be characterized as a Sandbox, but even when there is virtually total freedom to tail your adventure the way you want, the whole point of get higher levels is to unlock otherwise inaccessible content. In that sense, skills inherently have a goal, even if it doesn't align with the one in player's mind. The basic leveling system in Mid Age could potentially work towards this end, but since there is no content to unlock to access at higher levels, it becomes totally pointless. Even when playing with other players on the same server, the competition to see who levels up higher will reach a roof more sooner than later, resulting in a sense of profound dissatisfaction. Mid Age, despite still being in beta, does not propose any level-locked content, rendering the efforts to train skills futile.

The crafting system for tools and weapons is a good start, but it needs to be more friendly with new users. Runescape points out well enough what materials and quantities are needed to make a tool of certain metal. A comprehensive guide system should be reimplemented to improve this aspect and bring it up to acceptable standards.

In sum, I think Mid Age would be better suited in other game engine or as a mod for a different game. Developing it in Garry's Mod, as it currently stands, would be a far superior approach. The state of this beta is extremely early and should not have been rushed to better illustrate the proposed features. Time would be better spend on other things.
