MERP is a total conversion modification of the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Explore Middle-earth in a fully open-ended environment like you've never seen before. Play races like Elves, Men, Hobbits and Dwarves and take part in the War of the Ring.
I love the pics like this one! First of all it looks so real. Second I love that you have "real" mountains that looks like mountains do. And last I love it because its so much variation! Great job keep it up! :D Can't wait to explore places like this, will it be in the christmas beta? :D
Yep! ;) As for the mountains, they are shaped by lumpypat, the one who created the heightmap we use now. Other than that they are landscaped(snow, trees) by noirdesir and Fangorn is landscaped by him too!
So sad that my graphic card is 105M (notebook) and I need to remove grass details when I play oblivion otherwise I have very low FPS and I can't fight...realy sad I won't be able to enjoy it...
only with TGM :P
As stated in the PM reply I've just sent you, there are many ways to improve your fps without having to eliminate the grasses. I'll include a separate notepad doc. with the v0.2.5 release that will give a guideline of companion mods as well as ini changes that will significantly improve fps and visuals over the basic versions of both.
The only fps killing thing in this pic is the grass really, as it is set to a rediculously long draw distance. Other than that, these settings are quite reasonable if your pc handles Oblivion well. It is achieved through tweaking the .ini file. The LOD draw distance in this is set to at leas 5000 as opposed to the vanilla setting of 500 and the view angle has been extended as well. He also has some extra grids loading and the LOD tree draw distance extended as well. The only lag problems this causes really is if you look at a very un-optimized LOD model like Minas Tirith. Then you may have a problem :P
Really beautiful!
