Here it is guys, an in game demonstration of Mentality. This part here was playable at Avcon this month. There are still things that are being worked on, but you get the basic idea.
wow its looking really good! keep at it guys!
Cheers mate, we'll try ;)
Love that mapping work, looks really spectacular. One thing that disturbed me was the abruptness that the ambient creeps sound started. Anyways, I can tell that you guys are really mastering the ambiance in this mod.
Yeah the spontaneous sounds work pretty well we've found, makes us developers even jump at times! :) Thanks for your comment.
looks good, I really like it.
Cheers =)
looks awesome.
best hl2 mod i've seen for a while.
Wow what a great compliment. Cheers mate we hope we can live up to the high expectations :)
Those dynamic cables are fantastic!
Cheers - one of our awesome programmers made that possible, such a satisfying weapon to use :D
great video for an upcoming great game, two questions are there gonna be more zombie models? and how does the tripwire gun work does it ragdoll them without killing them?
Yes there will be more zombie models hopefully, as obviously they all look identical. Still trying to work out these sorts of things to make the enemies more 'random'. At the moment the tripwire gun does just make the zombies ragdoll and trip over, allowing the player enough time to deal with heavy onslaughts of enemies. After a determined amount of trips, the rope becomes detached from the wall and stops serving its purpose. Thanks for your interest.
Just to add to what Sam said, when our zombie trips it essentially becomes a 'living' ragdoll. That is the skeleton is physics-simulated but it will still take damage and will get back up again. Cheers! :D
It was fun playing this at AVCON, I will defintally download it once it becomes available.
cheers Scooter =}
Looking good, but quite a few recycled sounds and hud effects. Also, you had a silencer on a pistol that made some pretty big bangs. Great job though.
Yeah sound effects and other elements are still a big work in progress at the moment, they shall all be changed when released :)
Ah, so that's how the tripwire gun works! And I see you've got some ironsights in there, very nice!
Yeah we hoped a video would help people better understand its use :P - and yeah we thought if we are sacrificing a proper crosshair we MUST have ironsights. Thanks for commenting :)
The infecteds' ai remind me of the zombine.
Yeah AI is another thing we are currently working on. The zombies seen here have skeleton structures actually based on the zombine, so that's why their movement is similar. Good observation!
Looks very impressive!
I noticed when you throw the molotov, it isn't burning at the end is it? Then it would be just like throwing bottles at enemies.
Have you seen Left 4 Dead's molotov?
Yeah that's not done yet Nick....AND DO WE LOOK LIKE L4D? lol
Very good! Very very good!!
Congratulations!
Thanks very much!
FUCKING NICE WORK!!!!!
This looks amazing!
My own problem is how does that rope thing work?
I'm sure it's still being messed with, but it just seems that they walk into it and they die?
It's the trip wire gun, they run into it and fall over. they get back up unless you kill them while they are down. cheers:)
looks really good, it has a kinda "unreality" look to it, i like it, it makes it feel more dreamlike... more nightmarish. i actually like how the zombies skin texture is, it make me think of those things on "resistance" i like it, you should make more mutant like ones.
