In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. Now YOU can take direct control of imperial forces across the galaxy to bring victory for the imperium, or ruin in the name of other gods. The massed crack of lasguns, the roar of bolters, and the distant booming of artillery brings you right to the middle of the battle. Whose side are you on?

SM/TSM are very under powered imo, 6 body hits with a bolter to kill a guardsman while 18 with a lasgun to kill a SM while 12 bolter shells.

Maybe its not the health but the armor, looks like they dont have any, even thompson kill them with less than a mag.

Never played tabletop game and maybe its balanced but lasgun is weak (at least) and bolter rounds are fkng massive explosive shells of justice, also they have a power armor which can take a hell of a beating.

I agree. Astartes on both sides seem to die very easily, despite their heavy armour and the power of a lasting in general

The space marines do have 500% health, they lack armour to completely deflect weaker shots though as at the moment i am unable to add that.

In regards to bolters, turns out i forgot to add in the health damage code, so now that is in they can kill guardsmen in 2-3 shots.

It is balanced more on the tabletop than the lore, because the tabletop is balanced to make it fun and enjoyable to play, wheras the lore is only made to be fun to read. I can imagine this would be quite one sided (the mod) if the space marines were unable to be killed by guardsmen, and if we eventually get to multiplayer it means some units will just not get used.

I see, I saw a video where they make SM tanks, its very funny to see how they ignore bullets and just rape the other guys with massive firepower.

Youtube.com (min 9:20 and 12 more or less)

In my opinion, SM should be as op as the lore says, they just need to be fewer, or veeeeeeeeeeeeery expensive.

Lets say that you play as imperium in a MP battle, SM should cost as 3 or 4 elite squads or so, a single one.

I agree with you with this "I can imagine this would be quite one sided (the mod)..." but chaos also have TSM, and the other races have more chances to kill SM with infantry, lest say orks, a nob can chop off several tactic SM in seconds with only a chopa.

What Im trying to say is that "basic" infantry should struggle a lot to kill such a monster, but they can, maybe lasgun is useless, but they also have frag and krak nades, partisans are not supposed to kill a super persing or king tiger in vanilla but you can still fuck 'em with the cheapiest vodka using a molotov.

It is more difficult to balance a unit to be extremely strong than it is to give some units small advantages over others, which is the way to tabletop is balanced. Overall i believe making space marines extremely stong would make them in the end very boring, as once you have played the scenario of a single space marine killing hundreds of attackers there is no point of playing it again, and if you just fight space marines against space marines they may as well be normal infantry.

This mod will be sticking closer to the tabletop than the lore as it is prebalanced and in the long run will most likely produce a better game.

In regards to space marines being vehicles, as is mentioned in the other threads it removes their ability to lay down, take cover and do other animations. Terminators, dreadnoughts and etc will be made vehicles to limit their animation catalog as they physically cant lay down or crouch behind cover.

One thing that could be done would be to rely on community feedback for a long period of time .

I suppose this would take a lot of extra time and wouldn't be the most enjoyable thing to do but you could release two different versions of the the mod at the same time , or maybe doing something like a "lore/tabletop balancing patch" in order to easily switch between the two types of gameplay and see throughout the development process which one is the most appreciated within the community

Again this is just a suggestion , but I do believe it would be interesting to try out

Those ideas are entirely possible, balancing of course will rely on the community, we will see where it goes.

Oh, I agree 100% with the cover and lay down point, I hadn't thought about it.

I assume that we'll always be able to increase the SM health and match it with our tastes

Yes, of course. its currently 500% but will be increased in the next update :)
