We have something completely different from the projects we've done before in the works. It's called "medEvil", and it's a fantasy type mod that's sort of a cross between Castlevania and Hexen. You embark on a quest through a monster ridden castle to destroy an evil vampire and his army of darkness. The game will have a greater focus on melee combat than previous projects, though it will still feature a full range of magical shooting weapons as well. The game will feature ten levels, and coding changes similar to OMS2 (as well as some others). An update for the project will be posted here when the project is completed, though no release date has been set yet.

Okay...from the look of things, here's the progress report for the project thus far (this was previously posted at the Diehard Wolfers Forum):

Graphics: Got most of these done. I changed a couple of sprites and enemies Dum had in there for various reasons, but for the time being, all objects, enemies, and walls should be finalized. Some of the VGAGRAPH stuff needs to be done still, but I have plans for most of it already. We're looking for some semi large flame sprites still that look like real fire and work only using two frames.

Sounds: Usually the last thing before the maps to be changed, and I haven't done any of these yet (I know where I'm getting most of them from though). I have a "swishing" sound for the sword, but I'm not thrilled with it...if anyone has a good one in Wolf format you'd like to loan us, please email one of us.

Music: Sent some samples to a volunteer who offered to play with the original midis I'd selected. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that most of them will work. Also, the same person offered to compose some tunes that would fit the theme of the game, which we'll gladly accept (music editing is probably my second weakest point next to coding).

Code: Almost complete. All major changes have been made already, our coder is just doing me a favor and double checking the exe to see if there's something in it that causes occasional crashes, or if my PC just sucks (probably the latter). The medEvil code is based on the OMS2 code, which had no known issues (besides those inherent in the original Wolfenstein engine).

Maps: Dum is doing maps and I might be helping with one or two myself. Past that, we've gotten three volunteers to do mapping, and will be accepting samples from them once the needed materials to start mapping are ready. There will only be ten levels, so there probably shouldn't be too many more mappers involved or things will get crazy (OMS2 had four, and things went pretty smoothly still).

Story/Manual: This was easy. Writing mini manuals is one of my favorite parts, and this was no exception. There will be less game info in the manual and more during in-game info screens after levels (ala OMS2).

That's about it! More to come as progress continues...
