When I try to run the files it wants me to put in the Expansion CD. Is there a workaround?

you have to run the iso on Daemontools or other such programs, or burn a disc and put in drive

1. Download the MCGold.iso:
Moddb.com

2. Download a "pre-installed" standalone game folder:
Moddb.com

3. Start game from one of the pre-installed folders that you extracted to your game folders - while the MCGold.iso is mounted.

The instruction above is for Win10 users. On the first start you should be sure that DirectPlay gets installed / is enabled by Win10 Legacy components (program settings).
When you travel any conflict during executing the program i recommend to try starting the Game.exe files with Windows SP3 compatibility mode and reduced colors 8/16bit.

Fantastic job on making this great old game playable!

I have to say that I am frustrated, however, as the final few missions on the Expansion Campaign have become unplayable. The game crashes and burns in the first few seconds of the game. I take my savegame over to the original game folder and run it using the unaltered .exe and it works fine, but whenever I try to run at ANY of the resolutions you made it crashes.

I was able to make it all the way through to Op3 Mis1 before disaster struck... I played out that mission on the lowres and the next mission as well, but Op3 Mis3 is too frustrating to play lowres with the timer.

The crash seems to happen when a mech is given orders to move and then I move the mouse.

Here is the first few lines of the error message:

EXCEPTION (Access violation at 0x006B9B20)
Address : 0x006B9B20
Location : ScenarioMap::cellPassable() +0x50
File : G:\mcx\ai\Move.cpp(936)

My game is mounted to drive V: and I do not have a drive G:\ ...?

I was hoping you were still monitoring this page. Or maybe someone else knows what is going on...

Thanks and you ROCK for making this happen!!
Cheers and happy salvaging!

Nevermind! I searched for that exact error and found something.

Here is the solution that SEEMS to work. I haven't done the whole mission yet, but I was so happy that it didn't crash after 5 minutes I thought I would post it here in case someone else has the same problem.

Add the following compatibility tab settings to your MCX.exe shortcut:
Run this program in compatibility mode Windows 95
Run in 256 colors.
Disable desktop composition (to get around the corrupted textures glitch)
Run this program as an administrator
Run the game from the shortcut

Hi,

let me short introduce myself. Im RizZen, i download all campaigns, all available MCG modding tools and managed to build the biggest original overriding campaign ever, uniting this campaign and the two other available user campaigns on this site.

To play all of these campaigns as a one including missions from the original campaign working as a one, you only need to insert my modfiles which you can find it on nogutsgalaxy . net

When you downloaded this high-res folder and using it as gamefolder this is the place where my files need to be put in.

Do it and enjoy a campaign with 60 missions as a one.

And im still building on it, its just an alpha mod. But it is already playable walkthrough all campaigns who override original campaign.

Regards, RizZ

Hmm, I tried this today but I get this error:

ASSERT (80004001 - Unable to Set Display Mode )

Location : No .PDB file found
File : No .PDB file found

- tried to start 1600x900.exe

EDIT: It worked before applying this highres patch // graphics card: Nvidia FX 3800FM

Unable to Set Display Mode:

You can not start the game in a resolution that is higher than your current desktop resolution. Height and width need to be equal or lower than your current desktop resolution. You can read more information about resolutions here:
