Never understood the sci-fi logic of designing objects to resemble the species that made them. Humans don't make hardware that looks like people (or parts of people), in real-life, Mass Effect or most other settings. Don't see why other races should be different.
This is based of bits of bioware concept art for Omega. Look it up.
It doesn't look like a volus, it appears similar to their suit. We don't wear suits all the time. They do, and they are obviously designed for both practicality and aesthetics. Why wouldn't there be similarities if both are designed by the same race?
