The reapers have returned from dark space. With Earth under attack and the mass relays in a state of chaos from refugees and the councils fleet engaging reaper forces the galaxy is a mess. The outcome is unknown, the warfare is devastating. The galaxy will never be the same.

Each race is allowed 4 strike craft it will most likely serve as a defensive strike craft inside a populated gravity well.

And what are other three Alliance strike crafts?
Alliance-Fighter, Turian-Fighter (what is the difference?) and Kodiak (as a bomber)?!

The alliance fighter( i believe they'll have a bomber class) the turian fighter and gunship. I think the diff between the alliance and turian fighters are just the fact they're different races. And theyre the only known ones..Lol How would it look seeing a squad of alliance fighters launch form a Turian Dread?

It looks like it's configured for atmospheric flight with the tilt of the engines.

The Reaper equivilants, so far, are the geth fighter, oculus and oculus bomber.

As far fetched as it sounds, maybe have Harvesters be the equivalent? You know for defense of systems. But I can't imagine the horror of modeling one.

I would say similar shape, but a normal harvester just converted to a ship format, legs closed in, cannons at where the mouth is, and wings to side with engines under them.

Lol, Almost thought you two were going to suggest they fly through the vacuum of space with their wings alone, like the Zerg somehow do.

Well of course, just having them fly with wings would be sort of silly~

These are not even spacecraft. They are never shown flying in space, and while their codex description does mention that they can serve a orbital defensive role, it seems like they'd be incredibly ineffective compared to actual fighters. Putting my reservations aside, I'd still have to say that it should look very different from the standard mantis. It is described as being a modular ship that can be modified to have single stage orbital launch capability.

"Its modular construction means that the versatile Mantis can be reconfigured as a low-altitude gunship, a fighter, a high-altitude bomber, or even a single-stage-to-orbit spaceplane that can engage enemy craft around a planet or a space station."

I Disagree, their mass effect fields are powerful enough for them to be in space, and are most likely somewhat better or the same as a regular fighter

The codex entry says that specifically, so no its mass effect fields are not sufficient.

It says in the codex it can be used in space...Clearly its fields are so just except it.

If its mass effect core was of sufficient power to get it into space there would be no need for a separate modified space-worthy version. The fact that the codex entry specifies this distinct modular variation of the standard design as being suited for this role, and not just any version, means that it is not efficient. Read the whole codex entry, not just whatever bits suit your liking.

I don't believe strike craft can be launched from planetside in Sins of a solar empire, I think they have to be attached to a space platform or ship. If this is the case then the current Mantis design should be able to stand, as there shouldn't be any worry about atmospheric entry/exit, maybe with some minor modifications.

In that, you are correct. If they are not being launched from the planet the standard variation would do.

Im not suiting it to my liking for your information so lets clear that up right now. And for one i didnt just say this version. The point of the matter and my comment was that the codex said a Mantis can be used in SPACE. Ok what ever modular variation that is made. But its possible is the point. So again except this. Modified Mantis's can made for space. These must have efficient mass effect cores. End of argument and discussion thank you.

Seriously one of the most difficult models i have done to date the design almost reminds me of a shark. Again i would like to thank Troodon80 for his awesome references. Still havent added the gun yet will come soon.
