Hello MrRobville, glad to hear from you and to see that you are still working on this monster project of yours. AM following you for years now as you maybe know and each time its amazing to see what you have come up with. I assume that this engine is in real live a block with a size of 10 by 3 meters or so? Will have been a huge task to model it, not to speak of your next task, to give it a texture.

Remember that you had less time to work on this because of that you were having a job in the game industry. Hope that you are still working there and have fun doing so.

greetings,
Leon

I always appreciate your comments! Even after so many years, I still enjoy working on it. I think it gives me some rest knowing that the incredibly long development time removed the haste of it. Especially because my 9-5 job involves 3D also, it really depends on when I feel in the mood for it. When things like this take shape, it really helps. Not to mention, it is comments like these and from other dedicated followers that give me a lot of joy in continuing.

If I remember correctly, the engine size is about twice as big, roughly 20 x 6 x 10 meters. And it's absolutely cluttered with nuts, bolts and pipes. I've modelled it down to the oil lines. Everything is mechanically accurate.
Rather annoyingly, various bits of the engine had been remodelled a couple times over. As I intially started with blurry photos as refereces, every now and then a high resolution image would pop up somewhere, showing me whatever I had interpretated, was completely wrong. There are still some inaccurracies, but unnoticeable to 90% I'd argue. That said the rest of the engine room will be a tad lower in detail.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed at the animation though. Since the only person with knowledge about Mafia animation data suddenly seemed to have dropped off the grid. Regardless, a video of the animation is of course in my hands :)

Happy to announce that all geometry of the engine has been modelled!
Now it's time to put some color and grease onto there.
