Hello,

Thanks for your mod ! i really love it, unfortunatly it crash very often. I have the gog version of the game (not the beta patched, just the last official release of fa).

I have upload a replay here , it will be deleted after 7 days.

The second time i watch the end of this replay (when one of the player game crash at the end), it crash my game too !

Please fix your mod ! i really enjoy it ;) Even in 2023, supreme commander is the best RTS game !

I have try EVERYTHING (compatibility mode etc etc ...) (the forged alliance vanilla works well, it's laggy in big maps but it did not crash)

Thanks - I'll look at your replay.

The most common cause of frequent crashes is the surround sound bug. While you don't have it, we would need to see the lOG file from the other players, as it's the kind of error which can cascade across multiple users. Your replay terminated normally for me, which is a solid indication that whatever caused the problem, it's not the code itself, nor is it your machine - but likely occurred on one of the other players. To know for sure, I would need the log file from the other players. The surround sound problem is easily visible, as the LOG will be polluted with very frequent SND and XACT messages.

The 2nd most common cause of crashing - Alt-tab.

Thanks for your help. After many hours try to figure it out i think i have found a fix.

On my setup there is clearly a problem with the vanilla gog version and the loud mod. The vanilla version works well, but i have many crash with loud (can't play some saved games more than 10 min sometimes ).

My fix was to replace the .exe with the version patched by the latest beta patch (just the exe!) and now, i have sometime somes freezes (1-2 sec) but NO CRASH ! ;) the game resume.

I am going to stress it out with large map , 15 AI and 1000 units caps... see if it's ok.

Is there a limit in total amount of units ?

Absolutely - while LOUD greatly increases the limit before you encounter significant slowdown, we suggest that the practical limit should be less than 8000 units - in total. That would be 8 AI at 1000 unit cap. Beyond that point, you will likely pop the RAM limit and crash.

I should mention, the GOG version uses an odd memory manager that makes it unlikely that you can reach that limit. The GOG version likes to reserve 1GB of memory, up front, no matter what the map may be. This is more than double what the Steam version will use, and it substantially lowers that limit. Considering the game can only actively use about 2GB of RAM, you can see why this is a problem.
