Lost Dragons is a multiplayer total modification aiming to bring out a new thrilling gamemode for Arma3 . Our concept is futuristic objective based team warfare with randomly generated map elements to ensure every game is a unique experience with completely new set of units, weapons, structures and terrain.
Small hindrance in getting the Blufor walker 'Anubis' imported in game, some animation frames get broken in the export/import process. But while we are looking into it my hands have not been idle!
The gunship project name 'Caligo' is back on after a long pause, I've reworked the tail end a little and changed the rocket pods to match the missile pods' equivalent style.
Also working on our first NPC foe you will face on the ancient battlefields, the Blufor battledroid! I hope you enjoy the design so far.
I like the model, but wouldn't it be more likely for future designs to feature concealed weapons and basic radar absorbing ways to be designed?
You do have a valid point and I must admit we've designed our vehicles more with eye on cool outlook than realistic functionality (although we do hope to achieve a certain amount of funcional look too). There are designs with concealed weapons in the pipeline but with these designs we have made so far we opted for visible pylon/wing fitted weapons mainly because it looks badass.
While absolutely agreeing with your point I must admit this design choice comes perhaps from a more juvenile perspective, from a history of viewing such awe-inspiring vehicles such as apache/havoc, or perhaps the orca-copters from the C&C series.
Although I would also make a further development to the idea of radar concealment that it may be that this far into the future technology has reached heights where radar detection, or radar absorbment have become obsolete in the face of advanced jamming technologies, which in turn have been worked around multiple times to reach the stage in 'history' our mod takes place in.
I'm very glad to hear you like it though and I would definitely like to do something more towards a stealthy look like the Comanche, for example!
I can see where your design is aiming, and maybe it would be an agreeable middle point if you made the vehicles have a stealth design and the weapon system kinnda "pop up" out of the hull when fired.
This way you have:
1. a cool model
2. a cool animation
3. a coll firing model making people go: "wehat? This is very cool!" whne the rocket pods pop up and let loose a salvo of cifi hydras.
