The initial stages of development for our main police station "Snowhill Division." WiP by Burnfingers.
Not bad. Looking oddly like a Red Faction building.
Architecture looks original and the building is in balance, but remember that you are designing a game level, not a building.
It is not efficient to model the whole building, interior and exterior and then try to fill it with some meaningful rooms with internal walls. The polygon, model, entity and light limitations of a map file prevent you from getting good result on this basis.
You should instead start the design with floor plans and what kind of rooms and functions you want in there and in which order. You are much better off drawing the layout and modeling only the room interiors first, then wrapping the whole thing in exterior model in the extent that is visible from the outside. This way you get a map that works better with HL2 limitations and you can divide the level changes as you see best fit.
You can still use this material as a basic reference for scale and window location, etc in your interior model.
For reference, you should also observe how the (surprisingly few) buildings with interiors were done in HL2.
We did, but those designs were restricted to Developer eyes only.
