The intention of the mod is to improve vanilla gameplay and replayability by adding some unique but not out-of-place features.

The most eye-catching feature is the Legion mechanic. The Romans have access to 20 different legions. These can be recruited in Army Barracks, and will spawn in the nearby Legion HQ. Each legion is composed of 10 cohorts and 7 auxiliary units, randomly generated based on the region of recruitment. The 3 slot left in the army are intended for a general, and either two of his legates, or mercenary units, but that is up to the player to decide.

Additionally, Carthage now has regional recruitment for Large Town and Minor City level barracks, Minor City level stables and Large City level missile units, o top of a base unit roster recruitable in other tiers or buildings. Regional units include but are not limited to: Cretan Archers, Thessalian Cavalry, Tarentine Cavalry, Allied Gallic Cavalry, Chosen Axemen, Persian Cavalry.

But there's more: the Greek City States have access to different units in different cities, much like the Spartan Hoplites in Vanilla. They will have for example Cretan Archers available in Kydonia, Libyan Hoplites in Cyrene, or even Tauric Cavalry in Chersonesos (among others).

To top it all off, the some of the remaining factions receive some extra units for balance purposes, but also to make previously unloved factions more interesting.

In order for Post-Marian Legions to be available at a time where Rome was not yet powerful around the Mediterranean would be extremely inaccurate. To fix this issue, the mod is placed in an alternate history scenario where the Sullan dictatorship ended in disaster, with other former powers rising back to their former selves. Accordingly, the Romans must rebuild their empire, but will now have to face powers such as Macedon or Carthage again. And as if it wasn't bad enough, Spartacus rose up in Capua, and now controls an army that threatens the very city of Rome. The Julii family have been given the mission to stop this rebellion, and according power over southern Italy.

Additionally, the Etruscans are added as a faction, replacing the House of Brutii.

The map for the Imperial Campaign is from Ahowl11's Vanilla Enhancement Mod, and extends further east and south than the Vanilla map, as well as being considerably larger in proportion.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL THE MOD:

- Download the file

- Unzip the file over to your Rome Total War Alexander folder (found at ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Alexander if you have the steam version)

- open the "legio" folder and use the legio.bat file to start the game

- To play Vanilla Alexander, use the normal .exe or shortcut, to play the mod, always use the legio.bat file. You can create a shortcut to the legio.bat file, but do not remove it from the "legio" folder.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RUN THE LEGION SCRIPT:

- The script must be activated every time you start or load a campaign

- To activate it, press F1 to open the Keyboard Shortcut Menu, click the advice button, and then press "Show me how". This activates the script.

you can't retrain it. However, if you recruit enough legions, eventually you'll get that legion number again, and you can use that to merge the units
