A Legacy of Love for Generals
For over two decades, I have been a devoted fan and enthusiast of the game Generals. I've climbed the ranks on GameSpy's competitive ladder, witnessed the rise and fall of various mods and patches over the years, but there's one thing that continues to break my heart – the absence of a successor to 1.04 in Zero Hour. It's a craving for change that's unmet, but that doesn't mean we won't give it our all.

Enter ZH 1.04L: A.K.A "Better Leang"
Welcome to ZH 1.04L, affectionately known as "Better Leang." What's our mission, you ask?

The Goal: Competitive Play
Our primary objective is to address the most pressing issues of 1.04 and mold it into a competitive gaming paradise.

Why ModDB?
You might wonder why we've chosen ModDB as our platform when this is not exactly a mod. The reason is simple: we want to share our project updates with players who may not be part of our Discord community.

The Evolution of Leang
But who is Leang, you might be thinking? Leang is the formidable BOSS General from the Zero Hour Challenge. However, we intend to redefine her role in the game. Instead of being a mere "Boss," she will become a force to be reckoned with, wielding replicas and combinations of weapons from other factions. Think of her as an OPFOR or "Redcell" army.

The Purpose of Her Addition
Why add Leang? Previous iterations either copied the campaign version or made minimal changes without a clear direction. Our goal is to introduce a general who melds aspects from each Vanilla faction into dangerous combinations. Much like the Superweapon General, she will excel in defense, struggle in the early to mid-game, and shine in the late game. Rather than spamming Alphas and 2.5k SW's, she'll rely on stacking upgrades and a diverse arsenal of Superweapons.

The Road Ahead
Let's outline the objectives and roadmap of this patch:

1. Adding Balanced Leang: This won't be the Leang from the campaign or other mods you've seen before. We're striving for a unique balance focused on compettive play.
2. Priority Balance: Addressing priority balance issues is a key step towards creating a more enjoyable gaming experience. These may include airforce General overperforming or VChina underperforming in most matchups.
3. 
   Bug Squashing: Our focus is on multiplayer-related bugs initially, but we won't rule out other improvements.
4. 
   Balancing Tweaks: We aim to make changes based more on price and build time than direct stat alterations, in line with the spirit of the old ZH 1.04+ Project.

Two extra things to point out:
Community Engagement: We value the input of Zero Hour pros. Remember, this is a Zero Hour PATCH, not a mod. We intend to keep any gameplay changes minimal.
Artistic Polling: In the distant future, we might introduce art changes, like giving Leang's vehicles and structures a distinct Chinese aesthetic. Your input will guide this decision.
