While the CIS already has large hangers full of droid fighters and gunships, they lack the proper ability to house ready replacements during battle. The Megaton-class was once called the Captor-class before undergoing major modifications as a wartime frigate/carrier.
This ship has excellent armor and shielding along with large hangers with seemingly endless reserve craft. This advantage as i've personally seen only lasts for the first few tech levels before the other factions fighters and flak can easily overwhelm the large number of craft provided by this ship.
