'Is Alive' is a modification for Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction. There are new recipes, new monsters, new monster abilities, new locations, new quests, end-game dungeon and the most important - the game is much more difficult. No new character skills, no new acts, no new characters, no new uniques, no new sets, no new runewords. 'Is Alive' isn't a total conversion mod, and it never will be. The mod can be downloaded as D2SE modplugin. Extract the file and the folder 'IsAlive' just copy into 'MODS' folder in your Diablo 2 folder :) Enjoy ;)

1) You can keep them and later in game (after finishing Hell Realm quest on nightmare), you can transmute them into something more useful :)
2) Red scroll only give you information, tell you some secrets (about quests, gemwords etc.). They are 'Hint scrolls'. Once you unlock them, they tell you something, this is ther only function. And if you knew that, or you simply donť need to know that (to keep the scroll), sell it. Unlike boss items, you can sell them for some extra gold :)

Do diablo 2 mods conflict and if so will this one conflict with median xl? i want to mod my diablo 2 to the XTREMMEEEE!!! but im wondering if this will conflict with anything in particular Median xl
If you're using D2SE (for both Median and Is Alive), there should be no conflict between them. With D2SE, you can have as many mods as you wish ;)
That doesnť mean you can combine them of course.
well i installed both anyway and i think there both working
how do i do optional quests?
for example i brought from gheed scroll, unlocked it with crafting points it says i need blood from blood raven, countess, and bonebreaker morrow, i got those 3 items what next? when i put 3 required items scroll and finisher nothing happens
Good question :)
You can't transmute all the ingredients and scroll in cube at the same time, you must do it separately... that means one of the items + scroll -> transmute, then another item... until nothing more is required. Then just transmute the scroll in cube with finisher and the quest is done :)
thanks man, is there are realm for this mod? i would love to see my friends die to rakanishu, bishibosh etc ;), gr8 mod im just in act 2 but andariel was so easy i think act bosses should be more scary or maybe they are in hell will see i guess

Unfortunately, no realm... yet. But yeah, I know what you're talking about :D Have seen it few times and I was literally choking from laughing :D (when my friend tried to run away from Hack'n'Slash - visit Stony Tomb level 2 and you'll understand :D)
Act bosses aren't very difficult to kill, I admit. I like them like that, but don't worry... Mephisto will surely kill you in a heartbeat ;)
Does this mod work on Windows 8 ?
If you run Diablo on Win8, there should be no problem running the mod on the same system ;)

Hey creator this mod looks great I am stoked to play it but I wanted to know if there is a way to convert my current character saves over and play them on this I've put alot of work into my guys and I hate to start over if I don't have to.
Sorry if this is a newbish question I've never tried modding D2 before. I tried just moving my character saves to the saves folder for this but it says bad inventory data when I try and start the game with them
Hi,
I suppose the character isn't from v1.10, is it? The mod uses 1.10 patch, so this might be the problem. If you have a character from newer version of vanilla (1.11, 1.12, 1.13), try to play it in vanilla and get rid of every item, that doesn't appear in 1.10 (hellfire torch, some unique items, essence of hatred etc...). Then save it and try to copy that save (*.ds2) into Is Alive (.../MODS/IsAlive/save) and run it. This should work ;)
Though, I recommend starting a new character, because there is so much to discover , especially an the very beginning ;)

I have an essence item in my bank I'll try and get rid of it and see if that fixes it thanks for answering back so quickly =) also I'll prolly start a new druid sometime in the near future so I'll check it all out on him.

Got 1 question though is there a way to respec in ur mod other than the vanilla way with akara?
This possibility of respec with akara is only in v1.13. Version 1.10 doesn't have anything similar. But you can do it via PlugY (you'll have to allow it manually in plugy.ini). Just find "ActiveSkillsUnassignment=0" and change the 0 to 1 ;)
I started a new game with a buddy of mine and still loving the mod the difficulty is a little extreme but we can handle it some enemies we're having to leave cause we can't beat lol!
Although I have to say if you don't mind a little constructive criticism your names for elite enemies leave me feeling like the mod is lacking professionalism and sets a silly tone for a game that is meant to have a dark and hardcore feel to it. While not enough to kill the mod for me it really does pull me out of the game when I see names for enemies I'm fighting like boring virgin it makes me feel like oh well I'm fighting a boring enemy now I literally feel bored by this (Even though its hard it just changes my mind set to an uncomfortable frame.)
Names like "Guy you don't like" are a bit juvenile for Diablo II and Idk if you were going for comedy or what but it falls a bit flat with otherwise such an inspired mod.
So just my friend and I's two cents but its something to think about. Other than that this mod kicks total and utter *** and provides an excellent experience I LOVE IT.
Side note: Big and Strong was really kewl and we both though that name was pretty clever for the big ape guys but boring virgin how about something like "Tortured Virgin" That is mysterious and frightening all at the same time don'tcha think?
Yeah, it is challenging, but not impossible. Just have to grind a little, even in the beginning :)
I know, I know... the names are not important part of the mod, they can be changed... originally the names meant to say something like: "I know the mod is quite difficult but hey, it's still just a game, don't take it too seriously ;)"
When I get to the stage of releasing expansion, I'll change the names to something more... serious :D

I'm digging it other than the name thing though I would give it a shining recommendation to any Diablo 2 vet that hasn't checked it out (Not to new players cause of the difficulty though cause its crazy hard lol).
I'm just starting to get into the crafting system now I love discovering how you've got it layed out and figuring out how everything works.
The gemwords are really kewl they make gems so much more fun to tinker with and I actually take time to socket stuff early on now lol.
You did an excellent job with this you should consider trying to get into game design or coding cause you really know ur stuff at least on Diablo 2 you could have a future in it.
I'm so glad to see that there is another person, who gets the purpose of this mod :)
Of course it's for Diablo 2 veterans, they are my main target group ;)
Crafting system might seem a little complicated, but once you successfully craft an item, you'll find it's actually very intuitive :)
Thank you, I actually study programming and have a dream to create games for a living. But of course, I'll make games (or mods) anyway, because it's so much fun and I really like it :)
Yeah I know what you're saying about the names and in a game like Borderlands or something where the enemies have names like "Ultimate badass of Badassery that will pile drive you" I'd say those were great names but in Diablo where the entire game has such a dire and serious overtone it just feels forced and out of place like whoa what's that doing here? lol.

Oh and btw Mephisto is broke af! Haha he's insane me and my buddy were going at him on Nightmare for like an hour or two with our Pally Necro duo and we threw army after army at him then would regroup it was such a rush when we finally took him down we stood up and danced around it felt like such a victory after working so hard for it haha He's something else that was a good fight well done on him.
Yeah, maybe he's a bit overpowered with his poison aura :D
But obviously not undefeatable ;)

Yes, but keep in mind that the mod uses v1.10, where only world event works.
