If a fresh install did not yield any satisfying results, you may want to try to create a manual shortcut to launch FX.

1. Ensure the FX mod files are located in your Homeworld2\Data folder:
- FX1.88.big (mod data)
- FXMODLANG.big (English patch)
- FXMODLANGSpeech.big (voice)

2. Create a new shortcut to Homeworld2:
- Go to the Bin\Release folder
- Right-click the Homeworld2 application -> send to desktop (create shortcut)

3. Set the FX mod parameters:
- Right-click the shortcut > properties
- Target: X:\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod FX1.88.big -locale FXMODLANG
- Start In: X:\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release

Replace X with your game dir.

Optionally, you can further modify the target line with any additional parameters, for instance a custom screen resolution or refresh rate:
X:\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod FX1.88.big -locale FXMODLANG -w 1920 -h 1080 -refresh <75>

If problems persist, move on to the last solution.
