The Crossfire mod is a continuation of the HW2 story. Sort of an 'unofficial expansion' if you prefer. We are expanding on the original story, gameplay, and units. Keeping the original 'feel', yet adding to the experience.

that looks like a ship from the FX mod...
It's the Junkyard Dawg, from HW1. It was a very... frustrating Frigate- and Capital-Ship-Thief that grabs ships in the giant claws and takes them off. The ships can only be recovered by tempting it with another ship. The FX mod got it from there.
The Junkyard Dawg ship was featured in the fx mod as a...resource collector (kinda degrading in my personal opinion), anyway I extracted the model and textures from HW1, tweaked it a bit for animation, then added my own custom animations and fx. Now it's a capture unit again, but not as powerful as it was in HW1 for balance reasons.
Like the scavanger corvette in HW1?
those ship are ships of the HW1, those ships stolen your ships to the hyperspace doors opened in the mision of the automathic platforms when you have to active a prove

Correct, that is the Junkyard Dawg from HW1 (in the Shining Hinterlands mission, Karos Graveyard). Only, in this mod, it no longer drags ships around, it now boards them like other capture ships. As JMScomp said, it is additionally less powerful and thus balanced.
i still like the Scavanger Corvette alought it had to take ships back to the mothership. i miss so much from Hw1 like hyperspaceable Resource collectors, they looked like American Bullnoze lorries
