yeah, without researching I'm guessing GoldSRC is capable of a lot more polys than the orignial Hl1 characters were made with. You'll just have to try and find out. Or research the max character poly count. I just tried, not too hard, but I didn't find any info.
But I Just told you xD, arround 1500 per smd and arround 5000 per model, our coder found the numbers by himself but i also found this,check this and look for the half life one:http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/threads/23520-Historical-Poly-Counts
