Heat of Battle is a highly immersive, inherently tactical, World War 2 modification for the Source engine. Designed to be the most realistic teamplay experience possible, Heat of Battle immerses gamers in an environment where teammates are compelled to fight together to take objectives and dominate their battlefield. Iron-sights aiming, a unique class structure, squad based teamplay, and multi-task objectives work to draw soldiers together in an environment where strategy and weapons proficiency mean everything. Our missions will take you from the beaches during D-Day straight into the heart of the European theatre. Your only hope rests in the man next to you and the shared knowledge of what you would do for each other.

It's been way too long since we've released a news item. For your patience, we here at HoB have some extras in this news bit. First off, if you visit our Source Media page you'll see that we've updated with some skinned renders of the 1911, p38, M1 Carbine, and Thompson. In addition, you'll find our skinned Axis model in its final phases. I also have some fantastic news for those of you who are following our progress. The first release of HoB will be compatible with Custom DoD:Source maps. That's right! Lunt has been working hard on incorporating the map functions into HoB. Finally, the HuD is coming into form and starting to really function well. Stay tuned for some really cool advancements in the gameplay in the coming two to three weeks!

Damn. Their website says:
Heat of Battle Source Status
*CANCELLED*
Hey guys, just wanted to give you a quick update, the gears are grinding again at HoB and we're almost at something playable internally. We're currently working on a lot of content -- mostly models -- and getting them into the game. Its a tough job to be honest, especially for someone to animate 10+ models -- help is always welcome.
Another major point to keep in mind is that HoB is compatible with DoD:S maps, this was one of the updates produced internally during late spring. So a mapper could potentially map for both mods if they wanted to. HoB does have its own set of entities though, which will offer different game modes and a richer set of options than DoD.
Cheers,

DoD Source was almost as big a let down as Half-Life 2. And that is saying a lot. '
not to start flaming, but why are you looking at this mod, or any other mods for HL2 then? it gets 95%+ reviews because people like it... and we don't really care how boringly negative you can come across... ><
DoD Source was almost as big a let down as Half-Life 2. And that is saying a lot.
you can't speak for the entire dod community, and trying to do so just shows how much of a fool you are.
I am happy that HoB is comming to source however, I loved it for CoD!
keep up the good work!
I am in the DOD community since 1.3 beta. The community hates DOD source. We are patiently awaiting a mod that is made by league players. Maybe we can have some input on this mod and hopefully it will be competitive. Cheack out what we did with DOD competition mod as far as Cone of fire with dod source.
