We've recieved our first online review. www.game-damashi.com has posted a great review of HQ2. It includes new screen shots and a complete walk through video of the demo. The review was written in japanese and can be viewed HERE. For a rough english translation, you can read it HERE

Very nice mod, but one of the things that bugged me was the fact that you cant run away and shoot at the target behind you at the same time(move the gun around on a 360 degree axis).
Nice potential, nice mod, bad controls. You need to make the aiming system mouse based before this will ever be playable.
I think they want to keep classic NES Contra-like controls.
Try playing with a gamepad.
In contra, the controls were fast and simple(holding up and right will aim your gun at that angle, holding it down and right will hold the weapon at that angle).
In this mod, you have to move the mouse at the angle you want to shoot at which is very tedious and annoying at times.
If you read the readme it say how to enable Contra like controls. Go to the options, then you doesn't need mouse anymore.

If your having trouble using the mouse, you can do a couple things. If its too slow, increase the speed in the options. Or try turning mouse aiming off. Once it is off, its classic contra aiming style. This works well with a controller, or just the keyboard. Also remember, that damage is not location based, so shooting an enemy in the head or legs does the same amount. It takes a little bit to get used to turning the mouse aiming off, but once you do, its a much faster way to aim.
I'll have to try this then.
This is a great improvement over Q4's hardqore imho: you can't get a bunch of weapons, you must be selective, the weapons seem more then a "hold down trigger & fire & run" type of weapon, the baddies fire more contra-style weapons (not mostly instant hit like q4's) plus all the little technical things that are improved.

About the aiming: our main goal was indeed to keep classic Contra-style controls.
Mouse aiming could require some practice and can be turned off from the menu.
We'll improve the mouse-based aiming mode in the next release.
