Very basic still this looks like some sort of security checkpoint in that case the book shelves are misplaced in it even though if it does looks great. Better add some terminals at that place or a weapon locker etc.

No, it's not a bad idea; there is nothing to do other than read books or play video games when you're working as a security guard, right? But since it's a research station I guess what I just said is meaningless.
