Half-Life: Dark Matter is a modification for the 1999 Game of the Year Half-Life and its sequel Half-Life 2. It takes the user back to Black Mesa in past tense. In the ten years since Black Mesa was nuked, a group of rebels have rebuilt their own base aptly named Black Mesa Alpha. The rebels have since gathered the plans from Dr. Kleiner and have set up teleportation points around the new base and at other Rebel locations across the planet.

You are awoken lying on the ground looking up at three soldiers. “He’s waking, He’s waking”. You don’t remember anything. The only thing you remember is the name the soldiers are calling you, “Giga”. Suddenly, you hear gunfire and raise to your feet. You seem to be wearing some sort of combat suit that analyses any variable in its viewpoint. It tells you to fight. Fight… or die…

The story of the mod will be set in 2010, just after Gordon Freeman dealt a massive blow to the Combine by destroying the City 17 Citadel. There has been a massive revolt in the surrounding other cities, with many taking overthrowing their so-called Benefactors. In a bid to hold back the rebellion, the Combine in “City 1” have derived a strain of a virus, moulded using dark matter and nano-technology that slowly programs the host to whatever pre-set instructions have been set by the Combine.

The player will wake up in what the rebellion will deem a normal fight with the Combine. However, what they don’t realise is that the outpost they will be raiding contains information of the nano-virus, which they know nothing about. The player will be fitted with the latest modified HEV suit, which analyses units and identifies them once programmed into a database.

The game will take the player to several locations unseen in the Half-Life universe, yet pivotal to the telling of Half-Life: Dark Matter. Spanning several rebellion bases and ruined cities that once were the pride of man, the player will be immersed in an interactive experience.

Our mapper, SRS2, has recently completed mapping out the majority of one of our second chapter within the mod. After much deliberation we have decided to release some images of the barracks and the sleeping quarters within the chapter.

The Hallway of the Resistance Barracks Sleeping Quarters Looking In....

Work continues on the mod, Chapter One is also nearing completion and the subsequent HL translations for both chapters will be completed soon after.

I don't think they are going to correct that huge typo...it's 1998 not 1999 or 2000, and anyhoo, is this thing even alive?

I never said all the cities were rebelling, only some cities... closer to City 17 where the world has spread. And yes i do realise its 2000 :P

But other than the typo the mod sounds a bit interesting, i'll watch it, and see where it goes.

Bytheway, reading the story, what makes you think that all cities around the world are rebelling and winning? Thats just cliché ... most will never even "hear" of it, and the combine will surely strengthen the defences anyway, unless they are really morons. So maybe re-think that part. But as i said i'll be watching the mod... best of luck.

This mod is for Half-Life 1 and 2. The Half-Life 1 Version however will be a lower-fi version so it's more accessible to gamers with lower spec computers :)
