This mod is about bringing players the familiar feel, atmosphere and action of the original ravenholm from Half-Life 2. In "Pathway Through Ravenholm" you wake up as freeman himself, but in a different place and a different time. You will have to walk through the town full of traps and death to escape the incoming combine forces. The only way left is to make it through and escape from the Ravenholm docks with the refugee rescue boat. Will you make it through, or become one of the corpses laying on the streets?

Today i will talk about renaming the mod and share other related content.

First of all, i would like to thank you all for playing the demo, even though this is a 2 months late. It felt really good to finally release the demo after many delays that it had. Hopefully the full release will not take more time.

About renaming the mod:

This mod formerly known as "We Don't Go To Ravenholm" will now be called "Pathway Through Ravenholm"

I Have decided to rename this mod because the previous name could be quite misleading to people. Some people not checking out the mod think that this is some sort of Valve's Half-Life 2 Ravenholm demo or the Half-Life 2 Episode 4 recreation which is completely false.

This mod is imagined and created by me, the levels are imagined and designed by me.

So i decided to rename the mod to give it a more fitting name and original name, that is going to seperate it from the Half-Life 2 chapter name.

I also decided to create a new logo with this new name, to give it a more decayed and Ravenholm sign like look. Hopefully this name and logo will fit the mod even more.

About the upcoming chapters and the work done:

As of now, there will be 3 total chapters in the mod, of course that could change, but it is most likely to remain. The upcoming chapters will have a lot of things that took inspiration from the Half-Life 2 2003 Trap-Town e3 demo. That means that there will be combine too, which you will also use traps against.

After releasing the demo i took a break from the mod for over 2 months, so right now i'm still working on the first level of the upcoming chapter

This will be a really short update.

I wanted to share some news about the release date of the demo.

This is it, the demo is finally finished, and ready to be released.

The demo releases on 2022/07/21

The demo could have been released about a week or two earlier, but i had some things to do, so i had no time for the demo.

You can think of this demo like it's chapter 1 release. It is basically chapter 1, but just open to change for the full release.

The demo's playtime is about 35 - 40 min more or less depends on the player.

Today i will talk about the lack of posts for this mod, and the demo release.

Quite a bit of time has passed since my last post on the mod, so i wanted to post some news on the mod to show that this mod is fully alive and well.

I wanted to release the demo last december, but i was not that happy with it, and i had to remake some levels, pretty much then i became busy and didn't get a lot of time to work on the mod without burning out.

I didn't post all this time, because i didn't have too much new stuff to show, and i didn't want to create too much false hype around this mod.

The demo is practicaly fully playable, it just needs some finishing touches, so this means that the demo could be releasing somewhere in the next 2 weeks.

This will be kind of a small update before the release of the demo

There is one level left to finish and i will then start to polish up the demo for the release

I have taken a few week break from the mod, so i have time to rest and think of new ideas for the mod.
The mod's development is fully back and the the demo is starting to come together nicely to be playable.

In this mod i'm aiming to keep the whole Ravenholm structure and layout geographicaly true to the original half-life 2
This means that you won't be seeing any weird structures or landscapes that don't fit the ravenholm aesthetic

In this rooftop picture you can see the whole town layout and recognizable buildings in the distance from the original game.
Also from the rooftop you can see the Ravenholm lake, which we never got to see in the original game

In WDGTR there will be most of the things from the original ravenholm, like gameplay, and traps.
But with similarities i'm also trying to implement some different things.
For example in WDGTR traps can be your savior, but also can be made to kill YOU,
So not only zombies have to watch out for them like in the original ravenholm, but also the player.
I will not show any of the trap variaties, you will have to see them for yourself in game

Of course there is still quite a bit of work to be done, but all i can say is that the WDGTR demo is not far from the finish line!

Hopefully in the next update i will be able to present to you the demo, but for right now waiting is the only thing to do.

In this update i will share the work done over the past 2 months

Let's start this by answering where has the demo been question:

The demo was supposed to be released in early august, but i had to scrap the past 2 levels i was making and remake them almost from scratch, since i didn't like how the mod was turning out. Now the demo will feature not 3, but 4 levels instead.

For the past 2 months i have been working on 3 levels, scenes, and some soundtracks

The demo should release this fall, but i don't want to share the release date yet, because some things will change, and i will be much busier, so i don't really know when i could release it, but level wise the demo is at least 90% done.
