Half-Life 25th Anniversary Update Notice
Running the 2013 tech demo (and probably older) version on the newly released Half-Life 25th anniversary update will crash Arrangement when starting a map.
This was "expected" due to all the technical changes Arrangement made. For curious people that want to run Arrangement, please switch your Half-Life installation to the "steam_legacy" beta branch.
UPDATE (24th January 2021): Got a crash related to "client.dll"? Read this
For this build, Arrangement used the DevIL (Developer's Image Library) library allowing programmers to read more easily external image files of various formats (PNG, JPG, BMP...) for some graphics/renderer enhancements.
The required runtime (DLLs) of that library are missing in this build, meaning you have to download and install them yourself. To make things easier for you, you can download the stuff here.
Once the archive has been downloaded, extract it in your Half-Life installation. There should be 3 additional DLLs named "DevIL.dll", "ILU.dll" and "ILUT.dll" in the same folder as "hl.exe". If that's not the case, you extracted the archive in the wrong location.
Otherwise, you can try to start the build again and it should work.

A version that mixed the tactical game we wanted to make, with stuff from Half-Life universe. That content was removed, later on.
Is a hard game. I edited some values but I'm afraid the code uses the same weapon damage for players and AI. Also parachute causes movement issues.
Camera is sickening but you can do kung-fu kicks! There's also some useful tips about movement I added back then.
Use sv_cheats 1, impulse 007 if you need weapons and "god" command, because the combat can be super frustrating.
I tried 300 maps so you don't have to! Use "map" command in the console to check them.
Here's the working recommended ones:

A series of maps about the beginning of the mod, back in 2006.
- Am_CaliforniaBank
A port of an old SWAT 3 map. For some reason I gave the enemies rocket launchers.
- Am_BMEntrance01
The mission where we go to Black Mesa! Just entrance section, don't get your hopes up.
- Am_C17_Coast
Enough said. Quite interesting to see that on GoldSrc.
- Am_C17_Coast02
Another attempt at HL2 content.
- Am_PreRetro
A cringe-fest, but an interesting attempt at a opening cut-scene.
- am_cod2
This map features a parachute and was an attempt to create a very large bridge or dam. Super hard to reach ground as enemies shoot you.
- am_demo01
Starting map for a demo mission. There's dialogues and a few custom gameplay features.
- Am_Demo02
This was supposed to be a way to get into a building or something, so Fred sneaks up by the sewers. Features haunted visions from Fred's child. Also features a very decent level design, cool enemies with nice voices.
- Am_Demo03
A very dark map, but had an interesting attempt at stealth. There's a camera you need to avoid. Also the map was designer by someone who became an architect later in life, which I thought it was super cool. This map is a remake of the one from Am Demo.
You need to find a folder which spawms randomly, then a cut-scene triggers in.
- Am_Devastation
Middle east type of map. Enemies are supposed to hunt you, but I guess they won't move, for some reason. Also palm trees do bleed.
- Am_EastBM_compiled
This whas supposed to be when you get in Black Mesa offices, the very first time indoors. Quite nice level. Some of these were used on AM: Rebirth, a mod I released back on 2007.
- Am_EndMovie02
This was supposed to be an end-game screen, which triggered when mission is failed. Had no idea how to actually put it in the game.
- Am_Fabric_compiled
A quite bad outdoor map, but had a millon trees.
- Am_FarAway01
I remember I had just finished FarCry 1, so was an attempt to do an island. Cool water.
- am_hasnain
A packed street over middle east. Decent level design!
- Am_RescueTime
It was supposed to be a timed mission where you needed to rescue someone.
- Am_Retro02
This map was featured on HL: Rebirth.
- AM_TR series
A reimagined Half-Life training. An incredible old map. It was before I started trying to do coding. There's rain, but made by lasers (?). Probably my third map in my life. Not even RAD worked! Didn't know how to do proper level changes, so it gets super bugged out when you trigger a level change.
- Am_tvintro
The very first cut-scene. It was featured in the very first trailer!
- Amdemo04
This one features another parachute and a very open map.
- AmDemo05
A slide show! Had lots of interesting images, back when the project was named ARRANGE MODE.
- beyond
This one features a new fancy light for models. It was a test to see if it was possible to pull off a mod, that would be done by another team. That was tried, mod was named Beyond Half-Life.

A big map, featuring some new skybox tech we put back then.

My "go to" maps, when I wanted to test combat stuff.

This one had some new fancy LOD tech. Nice stuff.

A map featuring some physic models.

A test map for LOD tech for brushes.

A very small demo of what would be a series of indoor maps. Nice level design.

Test bed for the improved physics system.

Same test, but included barrels that lit on fire, and explodes later. Similar to HL2's system.
- realphys
Another test for physics. Just walk to the center, and a few models should drop down.

A nice display of a new particle system we added back then.
- trenes
This was supposed to be a escape mission where you shoot enemies from a truck.
- US_CAP01
Features a cut-scene in a moving truck. Baddies capture you and send you to a facility or such.
INSTALLATION
- Using your favorite archive software, extract the "AM_2008" folder and .dll files to "$SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Half-Life" ($SteamLibrary represent the path of your Steam library where Half-Life is installed, unless you changed your Steam settings, it should be by default "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam")
- Restart Steam so it shows up in your library. Example:
DAMN. 300 maps? Gonna have a lot of fun digging through them! ;)

Not all of these work. The ones that do are listed up above. They could work with some tweaks, but not sure if they are interesting enough.
Most of those maps are not specifically for Arrangement, they're just taken from other mods, even without any adaptation. Also a lot of unfinished maps there. So recommended stuff from "Read more..." is most noticeable.
If not mistaken, only a handful of maps are there for testing. 95% of the maps are custom made for the project.
Can't see anything,throws cbuf_addtext buffer overflow at the console and all the screen turns black.What could it be?
Try turning off some graphics/renderer enhancements in the "Advanced" tab of the options menu to see if it fixes the problem.
I already tried and didn't changed anything.I can see the hands and menu(change weapons,etc) but everything else is blurred out.
I found that enabling "low video quality" mode under the Video tab prevented the black screen.
This build crashes on startup because it can't load client.dll

The screen turn white sometimes.
Didn't change anything, tried the x86 and x64 version. What got you think that it helps?

Because you downloaded the wrong thing or installed it in the wrong location, read the updated description for the fix, try it, and let us know if it worked or not.
Am I the only one who can't play the build because it can't load client.dll?

Holy F U C K that took awhile to get through! Shame a lot of the maps crashed due to missing wads and files but they were fun to toy around in!
I'm surprised you included the old PlanetPhillip exclusive demo as well! Once you take down his Mona Sax bodyguard (???) and force the dude in the bedroom to surrender the house gets raided by mercenaries. I recall playing that awhile back and wonder when you would finish the bathroom, doubt you ever will now! ;)
What pained me though, was how little campaign mapping was actually done between 2004 and 2008 beyond mostly testing and demo maps. I reckon all the time was spent on pushing Goldsrce to it's limits? :)
I've yet to dig through the 2013 build so I'm hoping to see some more concrete and uncrashable maps! c:
The most annoying thing is the weird camera behaviour with stupid zoom after any map loading, which's getting stuck in zoomed state and doesn't allow to play normally. How the hell is to disable this feature entirely? Only found that default_fov 90/105 can help to restore normal values.
