Vector Prime is a Star Wars-themed modification to Haegemonia: The Solon Heritage. Its timeframe encompasses an era from the end of the old republic to the might of the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant. Playable "races" or factions are the Rebellion (later New Republic), the Galactic Empire, and another faction - pirates, civilians, bounty hunters and other indpenedent groups that have always had good influence on intergalactic politics. The modification also incorporates a random map generator, built into the game's launcher for easier functionality, unseen before in the Haegemonia series. From an extended galactic environment to the tactical mastery of the Jedi of the New Republic, you will find Vector Prime to be much more than just a simple graphics modification. Admiral, consider re-thinking your strategies before the next operation.

Description

This adds 3 single player maps to Haegemonia-TSH. Solar System is a 2 player game in our own solar system Sol. Real Galaxy is a game between Sol and Proxima Centauri, and Galaxy Deathmatch is a 4 player game with Sol, Alpha Centauri, Proxima Centauri and Sirius star systems. All planets and moons in Sol system have their unique real texture and the other star systems are rapresented as they are in reality with Alpha Centauri and Sirius having 2 suns per star system.

Review:
I am surprised of just how well thought out this map collection really is. A wonderful, new rendition of our very own solar system, compiled with four other systems: Proxima and Alpha Centauri, and Sirius. I also see you are up-to-date with astrological news, as Sirius is rendered as a twin-suns system.

Some minor thoughts/problems:
- Perhaps the Mars-Jupiter asteroid zone could use a bit more emphasis
- The Sirius to Alpha Centauri jump node is not working, throwing balance off a bit on the 4 players map. Could be a typing mistake?

Overall: wonderful map, I urge everyone to download and have a look. It is both TSH and VP compatible, and like I said, there's a real amount of thought put into it. (Score: 9/10)

Have fixed the 2 problems above.

Now for something more different. Long time ago on the Amiga platform there was a game called Millenium which featured our Solar System Colonisation. This was followed by Dueteros. Both were very good games with a lot of addictive features and in game events triggered by the player in-game achievement. If only I got hold of a functioning script editor I could incorporate the features of these games in the Solar maps map above. I tried using the script editor in the modding tools but it crashes immediately at startup and can't find another one which works. Have tried it on WinXP, Vista & Win7 and I always receive the 'program has stopped working' error immediately after clicking on it's icon.

In XP, you have to set it up to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode. With that done, the script editor will work.
Unfortunately the script editor will not work at all on Win7 (so I assume it won't work on Vista either), or even if it does, it is prone to be buggy. In our tests, we have been able to get it running, but we couldn't save our work in Win7.

In the beginning, you may find the script editor to be somewhat hard to use - and I tend to agree that the original TSH scripts are somewhat complex, not quite easy to understand - but consult the scripts of VP, that have been built by the original authors of the mod. They are good examples of more simple scripts.

Thanks for helping me make the script editor work. This opens a lot of possibilities for me.

With regards to the game called Millenium I found that someone has tried to rebuilt the game for the PC from scratch(Game was released only on Amiga and Atari ST in 1990s). Though the graphics and quality of the game leave much to be desired one can get an idea of the way the game was and even in its crude form today is still addictive as much as it was then. You can download the remake from its official site: Glitch01.wordpress.com

When I learn the script language of Haegemonia, perhaps I would be able to make a remake of Millenium with the Haegemonia engine.

Should you need any help with scripting, feel free to ask. Also, if you get the hang of things and you have a couple of intuitive scripts at your disposal, I think we'd be glad to include them in VP as well, if you wish.

Hi there.
First: Great Job from your side, guys :)

But I have one problem: The Galaxy Deathmatch-Map doesn't appear in my maplist. I tried to copy the files in the folder around 5 times, but nothing changed.
Maybe I missed a little thing or I'm absolutly stupid :D Any idea what i could do?

Thx

Are you using The Solon Heritage expansion?

Also you need to copy both the folder and also the other file "skirmish_level.lst" to the folder discussed in the readme file.

You should get 3 maps listed in your skirmish level list called Solar System, Real Galaxy and Deathmatch Galaxy.

Also, if you want to install other add-on maps as well, you will have to edit skirmish_levels.lst (and multi_levels.lst for multiplayer) manually.

Technically, if a map doesn't appear in your list in game, open up skirmish_levels.lst in Notepad and see if it's in the file.
Sometimes the level still doesn't show up in-game in the list, even though it's in the .lst - in this case, edit the .lst manually to replace one of the existing maps with the one you want to see.
