Description

The Mauser Gewehr 98 was the work horse of the German Imperial Army all through World War One. Chambered in the caliber of 7,92 x 57 mm (also known as 8 × 57 IS) it was declared ordnance rifle in 1898, after its predecessor the Gewehr 88 had a lot of problems and wasn't liked much by the troops. Through the war it was modified into a carbine version which was later modified into the famous Karabiner 98k.
