Access Violation New game Thread - Gothic 2 - Requiem mod for Gothic II - The Night of the Raven

Hello,

So, I've installed Gothic II Gold with NoTR and then followed the instructions given in the mod .rar file. The game starts perfectly and with all the cutscenes (I've completed vanilla Gothic several times). However, when I press New Game, it goes to the loading screen and after loading about 2/3 of the way it suddenly takes me to the desktop following an Access Violation message, what should I do?

playLogoVideos=0 trying this setting in the gothic.ini is the only thing that comes to mind (if i remember correctly this disables all the cutscenes of the game so it might skip a cutscene thats causing the crash) that is if the start game cutscene is the problem

same problem here posting in hopes of a solution ((play logovideos=0 doesnt work,good thinking though,disabling all other cutscenes as well doesnt change the violation either))
in another thread was suggested to turn off g sync in nvidia control panel you could try that Raudonas.
....i dont even have the g sync option tweaking around with other settings like shutting off v sync and in game settings doesnt seem to work either

Edit: uh... try going to the system folder and launch ast.exe
works perfectly and im an idiot.

I played now for a mere 5 minutes and I can say, boy, it has some substance, I think I'll be stuck on in for quite some time

you give me too much credit sir xD the op did mention shortly that the ast.exe is the way to go but i guess its easily overlooked .
on another note if you get lags and short freezes mid gameplay in khorinis there is a solution for that as well,though its not too terribly bothersome unless you're fighting ((warehouse guard < ice lance)). what does bother me is the food/drink timer seems a little harsh at first as if you are at war with time- buuuuut you do eventually get used to it. the one bug that has me locked in place right now is the x in the cave greg takes you too,the digging animation doesnt really end and nothing happens you can leave the animation but as you cant dig out the leather satchel greg doesnt change armors and you can guess what that all means.
I did see someone mention the same bug somewhere but if memory serves its not solved yet
p.s in advance from what i figure you need to find an alternate route to VoM else it crashes.

No fixes, sorry =( I'll try to reduce some vegetation and/or lighten the size of some textures.

What should I do if I dont have the AST.exe? Where can I get one? I have the steam version, and it gives me this message when I try to start a new game.

new version uses gothicstarter or gothicstarter_mod

if you have 1gb ram that might be the problem

Hi,

My issue is same, was not able to start a new game at all. Loading screen goes to like 70%, the movie(g2intro) plays well and if I press ESC to skip the movie (or even if I wait it out) it crashes with access violation error right after. G-Sync is disabled and I can't figure out what to do anymore. I have counted at least 35 reinstalls of the game and requiem mod.

The game works and I am able to talk to Xardas in instalation step 3, so it has to do with the new files I am adding to the G2 folder, and mainly seems to be Requiem_Scripts.vdf file.

I am using gothicstarter.exe and tried both with compatibility and administrator runs.

Some of my last access violation errors.

I tried all possible sollutions on moddb forum and worldofgothic.de, even went to the extent of trying to assimilate steam sollutions, even though I have g2gold version.

Don't really know what else I can try.. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Edit: Almost gave up but decided to re-read everything again. Turns out it was Data Execution Prevention that was on for the game.. Hope this will shed some light on anyone else coming up with the problem. Turn off DEP here
