A submod for Westeros: Total War designed to bring the look, the feel and the sounds of HBO's Game of Thrones to the world of Westeros. (Alas I have no affiliation with HBO) This submod is currently for version 0.53 of Westeros: Total War which is currently in Alpha stages but with a devoted mod team working hard to bring it to a full release. The submod is compatible with both the Standard (Vanilla) version of Westeros 0.53 and also the Enhanced version. It is highly recommended that you visit the official mod page at TWCenter.net to get precise details and installation help.

Game of Thrones Enhanced Retro Submod version 1.1. This is a small update of my last mod released in October 2022.

Hello everybody,

This is the announcement of the version 1.1 of the Retro Submod for Game of Thrones Enhanced.

When I released the first version back on October 2022, I planned it to be a definitive version and at best I could release some patch to fix bugs or any issue that might arise. Very little was reported and I'm glad that the mod is stable and almost bug free. Since the release, I've been adding and fixing little bits here and there. As a lot of files were edited, releasing it as a patch would have been a hell for you to install and for me to explain the process. Hence I'm going with a full release yet again.

Version 1.1 will look almost exactly as 1.0 at first glance. I was very happy with the results and didn't want to make any big change, just wanted to polish it further.

In this version, when you start your first campaign, the first thing you will notice is a new faction:

The Free City of Braavos

braavos

Like in GoT 5.5 and 5.6 this faction won't have a major role and won't have a proper roster, but relies entirely on mercenaries. Unlike those versions, Braavos isn't playable neither in the campaign, nor custom battles. Also, unlike 5.6, they won't control the remaining Free Cities of Essos, that was never realistic, Mr. Nygren and me did it because we wanted to fill the map.

In any case, the faction is fully fledged, they have their own strat models, banners and portraits, they just lack quantity. The faction will have a lot of money but won't be very aggressive, nor have any major impact in the campaign. I would say this faction will be perfect for multiplayer hotseat campaigns, as the admin faction. Not only it is fairly isolated from the main action, but also the admin could play the role of the Iron Bank by financing some other players following his/her own criteria.

Besides Braavos, they are a few new strat models: for ships, settlements, generals and new skins for princesses. Also some of the battle models have been improved, and there are 3 or 4 new units.

The recruitment system has been expanded, now all the primary factions of the mod, I mean the noble houses, will be able to recruit the bannermen's unique units in certain settlements. If you capture White Harbor, you will get access to the House Manderly units, same for other regions, a total of 35 settlements I believe. That might not be very lore friendly but it looks nice ingame as your roster expands. This won't affect regional generic units, I don't want the Greyjoys conquering the North by using entirely Northern Troops, or the Stark using entirely Westerlands units. Also these changes won't affect the secondary factions, like The Wildlings, the Night's Watch, the Dothraki and of course not the unplayable factions (the Others or Braavos).

The rest of the changelog regards the scripts, it have been both expanded and polished further. I added two new regions on the campaign map. Also there are a few new characters, portraits, ancillaries etc.

Don't forget to check the custom battles, there not only you can customize your armies at will, but also check the unique characters. Also there are a few units there that you won't find in the campaign like:

ice dragon

Most probably this will be the last version, I don't believe that I'm going to update it further.

One tip, the music mod released months ago also works for this version. In case you have the tracks of the GoT albums for seasons 1-3, save them somewhere and later add them to this version.

Enjoy
