Nicely done. I still don't know why you felt it worth to reduce them in size. The issue that they got stuck was map related 'cause the asteroids were placed to close to one another.
Fixing few asteroid positions should be faster than constructing whole new models from scratch or??
Anyway as said before nicely done.
It was necessary for race balance (i.e. all races have equal resourcing). The larger models have collision issues and delays with docking. The Complex mod also replaced the default Kushan/Taiidan RU Collectors with smaller versions for the very same reason.
In fact, the Taiidan unit you see here -is- the Salvage Collector model from Complex. The guys have made some trades with the team behind Complex, where we get to use some of their assets (like this model) and they get to use some of ours in return (like our TUR Minelayer Corvette).
So basically larger models have bugs....
but Chibby version work flawlessly?
