FragOut! is a Half Life 2 multiplayer mod, in which you only get different kinds of grenades to fight with, instead of the usual weapons. Forcing players to adapt at using only throwing weapons new tactics are sure to arise!

Planned for first release(but not 100% confirmed):

- Skull grenade: Replaces the default hl2 grenade(but can be cooked)

- Melon Grenade: explodes on contact with anything, lower damage and smaller area of effect then the Skull Grenade

- Holy Hand Grenade(SUPER GRENADE):
Instant kills anyone in the radius and has a wider area of effect then the regular grenades, is a rare pickup

- Wind push grenade: On detonate a strong wind is released that pushes objects and people away from it.

- Wind lift grenade: Releases wind that pushes everyone in the area of effect upwards, usefull to lift yourself to higher places.

- Pull grenade: Rather then pushing away this nade pulls people towards it, with smart use can be used to herd people together to nail em all at once with a second grenade

- Freeze/Time freeze grenade: Stops all movements of people in the area of effect

- Cluster grenades: Grenades that when they explode besides their normal effect(such as damage) they explode in smaller versions of the grenade as well that spread out causing more havoc then regular grenades.
(multiple categories of these could exist)

- Gas grenade[CANCELLED]: Releases a cloud of toxic gas, think of it as a deadly smokescreen(toxin effect is likely to be like the neural toxin from hl2 so it never kills but weakens them for an easy kill if they're foolish enough to wade through the gas)

- Healing gas grenade[NOT GAS?]: Releases a cloud of holy smoke that slowly heals anyone that's in it's area of effect, this means it can heal your enemies as well!!!!

Uncomfirmed Grenades/Possible future mod releases:

- Sentry Boom Grenade: On this grenade there's a tiny gun that allows it to shoot a weak gun until it detonates(the explosion causes additional damage as well) Usefull to finish off a group of both weak and stronger enemies, the gun will finish the weak while the explosion weakens the rest.

- Teleport grenade: By use of a device to mark the target location then throwing the grenade, the grenade will then teleport anyone in it's area of effect to the target location.(teleport them to a trap?)

- InstaTeleporter grenade: Offspring off the teleport grenade, rather then being timed and teleporting anyone in it's radius it teleports only the user to whatever the grenade touches after being thrown. (rare/semi-rare pickup)
Usefull if in a pinch to escape quickly

- Gravity Nullifier grenade: This grenade will nullify gravity in the target of effect causing people to just hang in the area until gravity returns to normal(does not effect people still on the ground only airborne players).
Also usefull to keep yourself in the air and then bomb people from above.

- Seeking disk grenade: (based on an idea by Lster from the JailBreak forums) this grenade when thrown can manuever itself in the air to seek out a target, explodes on contact or after it's been flying for too long (could be based on manhacks)

- Shield grenade(SUPER GRENADE):
When it explodes it creates a superior defensive wall/cube through which nothing can pass(including players, the thrower and super grenades) can't be destroyed but will dissapear after a while.

- Energy discharge grenade: Discharges its energy in the form of the combine energy ball, when it explodes it will release the energy ball at high speeds making it usefull in small rooms and sometimes tunnels.

- Super energy discharge grenade(SUPER GRENADE):
Releases a faster, longer lasting version of the combine energy ball making it usefull in medium sized rooms as well.

- Cluster Hellfire grenade(SUPER GRENADE): A grenade from the depths of hell, shatters into multiple grenades that each release some hell fire which can incinerate it's enemies in mere milliseconds. It only releases a little bit of fire for each grenade and extinguishes quickly(but also burns enemies to a crisp much faster then regular fire) so it's clustered to maximize spread of the fire.

Seizmic Grenades: Similar effect as wind lift grenades but can deal damage(and probably has a wider range)
(dev note: it doesn't have to be Seizmic but I like the idea of a wind lift grenade that deals damage while messing with people's aim!)

By SupaNinjaMan - Headcrab sticky grenade: Sticky grenade in the form of a headcrab
(dev note: considering what I've seen from source engine it's not possible to stick it to any physics objects or players, but walls and ground should be perfectly possible and could make it a fine grenade regardless)

By Dr6o0n - Popsicle grenade: model idea for the freeze grenade(see above)(dev note: love this:O)

By Dr6o0n - "Healing Pack" Grenade: Looks like a healing pack or something similar that can heal you, but it's actually a remote detonatable weapon of doom! (dev note: while I love this idea our health items will float like all other pickups and won't be physics objects anymore, so this would only really fool a newbie once or twice + it's not very grenade like)

By BoredGunMan - Hallucinogenic Nade: effects: Pixelate the screen so it's almost like a doom like play, random encounters with a ghost player in the corner of the screen or far away, and other effects(dev note: I don't really like the idea, it's interesting but seems unnecesarry trouble for a low fun factor(imo))

By BoredGunMan - Tracking Nade: Throw onto your enemy to make them glow through walls for everyone to see(dev note: very interesting, don't count on it in a early release of the mod but it may make it into a later version)

By BoredGunMan - Rocket Nade: Prime and throw, Saving Private Ryan style! (dev note: only seen SPR once so I'm not sure what you mean by this, I assume it's priming a rocket then throwing it and it explodes when it touches something. Seems to much the same as the melon grenade to me... so nope!)

- Invisible grenade: Turns everyone in it's radius invisble(including enemies)(dev note: rather interesting idea, may be hard though, so def not for first release, also the tracking grenade suggested by BoredGunMan would allow you to track the invisble players)

By Clafferty - Summon grenade: Allows you to summon something(dev note: like it and like I discussed with clafferty I would probably make it a poison headcrab, you know the ones with neurotoxin that leave you with 1 hp, it can't kill anyone but weakens them severely)

By Clafferty - Nail grenade: based on TFC nailgrenade(dev note: it's not a bad idea but i have something similar that can actually be more lethal: the energy grenade mentioned above that releases a combine energy ball, far more lethal then some nails ;) )

By Raneman - Spam grenade: Works like a flash grenade but instead of a white screen the screen is filled with all kinds of spam.
(dev note: it's pretty cool actually and would be really unique but like most idea's it will first and foremost have to wait a long time and maybe even then wont be released. Also to consider is that future teams may be Angels vs Demons and as such as spam grenade wouldn't fit in.

By Lord Trilobite - Windup ducky: You wind it up, release it and it walks around until it explodes(dev note: great idea, may be part of the grenade set some day)

By Lord Trilobite - Lemon grenade: Rhymes with Melon and blinds foes with juice(dev note: like I said with the spam grenade there may not be any flash grenades anytime soon.. if at all, but this one does suit the mod a bit better)

By MikeTH - Shuffle grenade: Short distance teleport to shuffle positions of players in range or longer range teleport to send them to a random spawn point(dev note: like the idea, may replace teleporter grenade or may be secondary function of teleport grenade)

By MikeTH - Dummynade: Dud grenade that acts as a normal object being thrown by the gravity gun, or spawns a dummy player.(dev note: there's no gravity gun in FragOut so it would basically be a pointless object, don't really understand what you mean with dummy player though)

By MikeTH - Roulette bomb (Super Bomb): When this grenade hits anything it automatically stops and makes all the players in it's effect not take damage until it's finished 'spinning' through it's Victims then whoever was chosen dies. (might want to make sure no one can walk into the bombs radius while it's in effect...)(dev note: interesting idea but Holy Hand Grenade kills everyone in it's radius, so the holy hand grenade makes this look like a weakling, so don't ever expect it)

By PhanracK - Pirate boat: Capable of stealing Rare/Semi-Rare nades from players with a piratey : AARRRRR!!!

Hallucinogenic Nade (Idea taken from team fortress classic). Since the engine is source, hallucinogenic effects could be far more severe (Pixelate the screen so it's almost like a doom like play, random encounters with a ghost player in the corner of the screen or far away, and other effects)

Tracking Nade - Throw onto your enemy to make them glow through walls for everyone to see

Rocket Nade - Prime and throw, Saving Private Ryan style!

Shuffle Grenade: Shuffles all player positions if it hits the ground, or if it hit's a player it could send them to a random spawn point.

Dummynade: Dud grenade act as if you've thrown a physics with the Gravity Gun when thrown, or spawns a dummy player (An object that when you try to get too close it explodes.)

Roulette bomb (Super Bomb): When this grenade hits anything it automatically stops and makes all the players in it's effect not take damage until it's finished 'spinning' through it's Victims then whoever was chosen dies. Edit: Ok might be better if it effects ALL the players, or has more possible effects then just killing you.

You guys should make another grenade shaped like a skull that sticks to the player...but have it "bite" onto whatever it hits. I think that would be highly amusing and fun.

Time to think up some more grenade ideas...

Ticker (Super Bomb?): A long distance and high Damage grenade that's only traceable by It's loud ticking noise before exploding.

Time Bomb: Shortly after landing makes a (Grey) bobble into which slows down, Speeds up, or completely stops everything that's inside for a set amount of time.

Distraction grenade (Replacement for Dummynade): Kinda like a tape recorder of someone moving, to trick players into thinking that someone's coming, or just sends out random annoying noises.

Homemade Bomb: A bomb with a random fuse, therefore could explode at any time, if at all.

Gravity Grenade: when it's landed it randomly swaps the gravity to a fixed angle for a certain amount of time or until it's swapped again. (might want to make an Instakill effect if players leave the field by this grenade effect...)

Definitely think the grandpa teeth would be awesome!
Would love to have that in the mod, I will be downloading this as soon as it is available.
Pull the pin, toss the teeth and have them "bite" onto the enemy :]

Invisible grenade: Its invisible, suprises your enemies (could create an invisible poison cloud or something sneaky)

Rampage Grenade (Super Bomb): This grenades ammo is entirely fueled by how many kills you've gotten in the current round, Could have a Kill meter possibly?

that doesn't really work with fragout due to short frantic rounds, there's no long rounds where u can stack up on kills.

Great idea! When you successfuly stick it to a player it slowly decrease it's HP (while biting him) until he is dead but it should give some time to maybe kill the guy who threw it... (like... 8-10 seconds?), of course it should be preaty limited, and should be useless if you don't hit EXACTLY the guy you want to (hitting near won't help as it doesn't explode...)

OK, here are some ideas for you:

  • Hole-to-Hell Grenade: On ground-contact it opens the gates to hell for a period of time. Anyone who steps into it starts to burn and falls down into it. The grenade itself looks like a magmaball:

  • SatansSurprise Grenade: On ground-contact it opens the gates to hell. Satan/Devil Monster appears and tries to catch a player near him, and takes him down to hell -> Hole closes again. (But he can only take one player per Grenade/Appearance) The grenade itself looks like satans spear (probably the reason why he comes up, is to get his spear back, and to take some random guy with him, who maybe stole it ^^ )

  • CasinoRoyale Grenade: looks like a small present-box with a questionmark on it. when it is thrown, it becomes a random grenade of the game. noone knows what is is untill it detonates.

first and second are too much like the HellFire grenade, so if anything one of three of those things could happen

third is nice, once I found out how to make a detonating grenade spew out more grenades(cluster nade?) this should be piece of melon, until then don't expect it, but I think it's likely it'll be in:P
